Kentucky 4-H students throughout the state have been prepping country hams this month as part of the Kentucky 4H Country Ham Project. After the country ham hangs for the next eight months, participating students will enter to compete in the 2023 Kentucky State Fair Country Ham Competition. Last year, more than 800 students entered their country hams. How many we will have this year?

It's getting fast in Fort Worth — former Fort Worth arena-record holders Hailey Kinsel and DM Sissy Hayday rolled into town for the first round of their bracket and did what Hailey and Sister do.

Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo Barrel Racing Bracket 4 Round 1: 1, Hailey Kinsel, Cotulla, Texas, 16.56 seconds, $1,760. 2, Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, Lampasas, Texas., 16.58, $1,320. 3, Rachelle Riggers, Lewiston, Idaho, 16.70, $880. 4, Michelle Alley, Madisonville, Texas, 16.72, $440.

Currently, Cheyenne Wimberley and Royal Blue Fame have the fastest time of the 2023 rodeo with a 16.39 from the very first round of action. Wenda Johnson and Macgyver Moonflash hold the two fastest times ever run in Dickies Arena with an arena record of 16.08, set last year when the pair won their first title in Fort Worth by breaking their own former record of 16.17.

Following on from this morning’s post about sticky bums… look at this. This is what can happen!!
If this happens to your saddle, you need to consider the following: what trousers do you wear to ride in? Sticky bum? Suede seat? Jeans? Breeches with seams? Do you ride in the wet regularly (wet leather stretches and damages more easily)? Does your downstairs area get sweaty? Do you keep your tack clean and well moisturised with a balm?
Because many people go straight to the saddler and complain - but leather is a natural material. It is skin. It wears. If there is consistent wear on one part of your saddle, it’ll damage the leather. That includes zips on boots etc…
Be kind to your saddle. Make it last forever and ever!
