CSX 911 visited the Hanover Sub again today, and brought along the first heritage unit to roam the rails here, the 1836 RF&P. Funny the first heritage unit to invade Gettysburg was based out of Richmond, VA 🤔

CSX 911 and CSX 1836 RF&P Heritage unit are in charge of today's L137 rolling into Gettysburg at the railroad cut west of town

Benchwork made the turn tonight. Mocking up Smiths Siding. 100" long siding, relates out to over 1300', roughly 25 cars in N scale. The prototype siding is a lot straighter but I need to do what works to fit it in. I think I'll be able to use this as CSX and YorkRail does on the prototype, with each railroad taking their cut of traffic to opposing ends of the siding. If there is overflow, they can run it to Porters Sideling

Benchwork and track crews were back at it today. Decided to expand to at least Smiths Siding, where CSX and YorkRail interchange traffic. Thought process is this will give me an area to run around my train at an upcoming open house/layout tour that Mainline Hobby Supply is hosting Sept 21-22.

Doors will OPEN Saturday at 9:00 AM,

and Sunday at 12:00 PM

If you have never done a Layout Tour you are missing out on a great adventure. There is so many great model railroads to be seen, and along the way you might learn something you to can do on your model railroad.

Show up Saturday morning, complete your shopping, and grab a tour book. The book contains the address's, directions, and descriptions of each layout. Some are only minutes away, some might take an hour to get to, but everyone of them is worth visiting.

If it isn't right, fix it ! I laid out the 2 sidings for thr BIDS terminal before I had the platform design/printed. It was nowhere close to centered over the track, so I tore out the inner siding and slid it over a little bit. Resecured the track, I'll put new ballast down tomorrow

Hung my display cabinet back up. Filled up pretty quick. Some of these don't have decoders, some are work in progress, and others will be shuffled out onto the layout with ones currently on the layout

Installed decoders in my YorkRail GP15s last night. Here's their inaugural run pulling some M88A2 and Bradley IFVs back to Lincoln Yard.

Finished the roofing this afternoon. Have the cupola and ridge caps ready to go, along with the overhang supports. I have some leftover material that I'm going to try airbrushing it to see if I can get a closer color to the actual roof.

Dave Trone's West Penn Model Railroad is another that will be on Mainline Hobby Supply's Layout Tour. Check out his YouTube channel. This is a must see layout with over 1700' of mainline trackage. Operating sessions can host more than a dozen operators at any given time between yard work, hostlers, locals, interchange traffic and passenger service

The West Penn is a true Mushroom style layout with 1700' mainline started in 2005.

Mainline Hobby Supply is once again holding their Open House and Layout Tours this year, Sept 21st and 22nd. Located in Blue Ridge Summit, PA, there will be 10% off prices across the store (except consignments). Upwards of 25-30 local layouts, both model railroad clubs and private home layouts will be available for tours on your own time. Booklets can be picked up from the shop starting at 9am on Saturday morning, each layout will have descriptions on scale, modeling information and build progress, as well as directions from the shop. Self guided tour, you decide what you want to go look at and best of all it's FREE to stop by and get your booklet. Of course, browse the shelves to take advantage of the sale prior to heading out to see some fantastic layouts. My layout will be open 9-5 on Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday.

Also worked on the eyebrow windows for Glyndon station. Used a thin pieces of styrene over the large window, blending in the edge to the roof with putty. The smaller ones I just used putty to fill in and shape until they are close.

Here's a quick, easy and inexpensive way to dress up your MicroTrains bulkhead flat cars. They sell laser cut wood decking sets to outfit you cars. Less than 5 minutes !

Added camo colors to my military equipment. I printed the M88A2 from a file available on Thingaverse, while the Bradley's are from PnP Trains. I weathered up the MicroTrains DODX flat cars while I had them out of the box

Needed some M88A2 tank retrievers for refurb units coming out of BAE Systems in York, PA. So I printed some. A little bit of clean up after coming off the printer, next into the paint shop

Worked on roughing in the terrain for Railroad Ave coming off Butler Rd. And added some more elevations/hills to the north behind Santoni's.

Worked on EG Tower tonight. I used some leftover tin roofing from a Jim Coshun kit for the roof. The building itself and accessories are 3D printed.

Almost done with Butler Rd overpass. I applied rocks ( printed paper) to the walls, painted concrete, weathered and hung the signal racks over the tracks this evening. Need to paint the highway yet, then I can focus on the buildings, parking lots and more scenery.
