Anybody know what we're hiring an attorney for $600 for? It's item 20 on the Commissioner's Court agenda for tomorrow. Who needs a $600 an hour attorney and for what?

Undoubtedly the most admirable thing I've ever seen was Javier Ambler Sr hugging Camden and Johnson after the verdict. Truly amazing.

Zach Camden and J.J. Johnson were facing manslaughter charges in connection to Ambler's death.

After taking office as Sheriff, Mike Gleason pledged to lead the Williamson County Sheriff's Office into a civil service agency. It is our pleasure to announce that this has now been accomplished.

Civil service processes ensure fair and equitable employment opportunities, job protection, due process, and appeal rights for employees. A new era for the Williamson County Sheriff's Office awaits us. We are excited and look forward to it.

Tune in tomorrow during Commissioner's Court to hear Judge Bill Gravell read his apology letter that he wrote in connection to his accusation (Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell Jr. had emailed Laura Pressley Monday, claiming her actions at the voting site were responsible for “single-handedly almost costing someone their life)

Williamson County’s top official said a voter fraud activist was responsible for “almost costing someone their life.” Under pressure from her lawyer, he retracted the statement.

I've been asked by multiple people to share this. Apparently Judge Bill Gravell has inserted himself into the city of Jarrell politics. Although he doesn't live there, we all know who does. They have themselves a little "anonymous" page put together for this fight that they both are sharing. Even old Gene Richards made a comeback on Facebook to back them up as needed, although he was exposed as a fake account years ago.

Fact check #1: Gravell says "over 1400" students will be living in the low income apartments. Truth: unlikely. There are only from 300-350 units, many one bedrooms.
Fact check #2: Taxes were increased by almost 15% by the city council. According to the mayor: the city is not responsible for setting property tax rates as those are set by the county (and who is our County Judge?)
Fact check #3: Gravell is using his "Judge Bill Gravell" account to campaign for an election that he can't even vote in, all while blocking and deleting comments from those who likely can.

It's all so inappropriate and unethical that KXAN did a story on it. Some seem shocked, but have they forgotten Gravell texting his own opponent just before his own election and calling him a "three time looser"? No one should be surprised.

Judge Bill Gravell is posting on social media after his outrage over a press conference being held about a staffing shortage at WCSO.
He says the Sheriff asked for 445 deputies. That never happened. This was merely a statistic provided by the association. He also said in court that the Sheriff put out a press release on his letterhead. This was actually sent out by the association on their letterhead, not the Sheriff's. Maybe if Gravell wasn't driving when he read it, by how own admission, he would've noted the difference.
Gravell acted like the issues of a staffing shortage had never been discussed. Last week in court Cook proposed hiring eleven new deputies. No one even seconded the motion. This was the catalyst for the press conference being held yesterday.
The judge and several of the commissioners claim that the call volume has gone down (maybe, if you take out all of the padded statistics Chody used).
They claim that crime is down, according to Long, because of the deputies "and the community", clearly not wanting to give all the credit to the deputies.
Let's give credit where it's due. The deputies work hard to cover the calls they have, likely not in the best interest of their safety. Just because they are able to do this doesn't mean more positions would not make their job safer.
Gravell admitted that he is against an increase simply because he is upset at the press conference, claiming that he "won't be bullied". He claims to be for public safety, even inviting people to move to Williamson County from Austin, but won't support the need for more deputies.
Somehow, though, they supported hiring twelve new call takers for communications. The question is why were they needed if in fact call volume has gone down.
We agree Bill, it's time for change.

On Feb. 19, 1999, 15-year-old Sonya Wallace left her home in Rockdale to walk to the post office four blocks away to mail a letter. She never returned home. Three weeks later, on March 14, 1999, her body was found in a creek bed in Eastern Williamson County. Sonya's death was ruled a homicide. At the time of her disappearance, Sonya was attending Rockdale High School and spent her time away from school in Rockdale, Taylor, Elgin, and North Austin. Sonya had many friends that she associated with, and detectives believe her then high school friends would have vital information about her disappearance and the circumstances involving her death.
If you have any information about the disappearance and death of Sonya Wallace, contact the Williamson County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit at (512) 943-5204 or via email at [email protected]".

Boles did not bother answering the questions from the Hill Country News. Long, Boles and Gravell all skipped the Williamson County Deputies Association forum. They obviously don't care enough about their constituents to engage.

The Statesman covered Gravell's text messages to opponent Blane Conklin as well.
Again, "Gravell declined to comment this week on whether he sent the messages or made the phone calls to his opponent."
Also:
"According to a call log obtained under the Texas Public Information Act, then-Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody called Gravell five times the morning Ambler died in 2019. Gravell in 2020 declined to comment on the calls."

Speaking for those that can’t speak for themselves

I speak for the deputies at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, many of whom have been wrongfully terminated or forced to retire/resign and still others that will tell you they are just keeping their head down and waiting for the next election. Since Chody took office in January of 2017, the number of valuable, experience employees that he has gotten rid of is over 215.
