💜 In Loving Memory of Meghan “Meggie” Kiefer
June 29, 1994 – October 23, 2021
“She just wanted to love and be loved.”
Meghan Kiefer — Meggie — was the kind of person who reached into the dark for others, even when she was there herself. She made people laugh with her flaring nostrils, lit up with joy over tacos and sunsets, and loved deeply — sometimes to her own breaking point.
She was a daughter, a sister, a friend. She was the first baby who made her mom a mother. She was complicated, kind, fiery, and unforgettable.
And she should still be here.
🌅 Who She Was
Meggie loved sunrises, sushi, animals, and people. All kinds of people — especially the ones who needed love most. She had a way of making strangers feel seen and making broken things feel like they mattered.
She loved her family fiercely — her mom, the dad who raised her, her sisters and brother. She cheered them on, even when she was hurting.
At her funeral, so many came. Most her family didn’t even know. But they all had one thing in common:
Meggie had helped them in their darkest moments.
💔 The Truth
On the morning of October 23, 2021, Meghan texted her mom: she was trying to get him to leave. He was angry. He had nowhere to go.
She didn’t want to call the police.
Five hours later, they talked on the phone.
She said he was leaving.
He threatened su***de by cop.
She said that was his problem, not hers.
It was the last conversation they would ever have.
Not long after, Meghan was gone. Taken in an act of domestic violence that proved no warning is ever too small to ignore.
🏃♀️ Why We Run For Her
We run for Meggie, because she deserved more than just a memory — she deserved a lifetime.
We run for her mother, who now fights so no one else has to live with this kind of pain.
We run for the countless others who are still afraid to call, to leave, to believe they are worth more. Meghan Kiefer had a laugh that made you look twice. A heart that gave even when hers was breaking. A love for tacos, sunsets, and people that was deep and real.
She was trying to get him to leave. She didn’t want to call the police. She thought it would be okay.
Hours later… she was gone.
💜 We run for Meghan.
💜 We run for her mom, who now fights for every woman trying to leave.
💜 We run to say you are worthy, you are not alone, and we see you.
