Halloween is a fun and festive holiday, but it's important to prioritize safety, especially if you have children participating in the festivities. Here are some safety tips for Halloween:

Costume Safety:

Choose costumes that are flame-resistant and well-fitting to prevent tripping.
Use reflective tape or stickers on costumes to increase visibility in the dark.
Opt for face paint or makeup instead of masks, which can obstruct vision.
Trick-or-Treating Safety:

Plan a route in advance and stick to well-lit areas.
Always go trick-or-treating with a group, and have a responsible adult accompany children.
Stay on sidewalks, cross streets at crosswalks, and obey traffic signals.
Carry a flashlight or glow sticks for better visibility.
Candy Inspection:

Examine all candy and treats for tampering or unusual packaging before consuming them.
Avoid homemade treats from strangers.
Home Safety:

Keep walkways and entryways well-lit and free of obstacles to prevent tripping.
Keep pets secure, as they may become agitated by the constant doorbell ringing and the sight of unfamiliar costumes.
Driving Safety:

Be extra cautious while driving on Halloween, as there may be more pedestrians on the road, especially children.
Slow down in residential areas and always yield to pedestrians.
Pumpkin Carving Safety:

Use appropriate carving tools, and never allow young children to carve pumpkins unsupervised.
Consider using battery-operated candles or glow sticks inside pumpkins instead of real candles to avoid fire hazards.
Social Media Caution:

Avoid sharing the exact location or personal information on social media while trick-or-treating.
Allergy Awareness:

If your child has food allergies, be vigilant about checking labels and consider carrying allergy-friendly treats with you.
Emergency Plan:

Ensure everyone in your group knows a meeting point in case you get separated.
Teach children how to call 911 in case of an emergency.
Respect Personal Space:

Remind children to respect personal boundaries and not to enter homes or cars of strangers.
Healthy Habits:

Encourage moderation when it comes to consuming Halloween candy and sweets.
Alternative Celebrations:

Consider attending organized community events or parties as an alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.
By following these safety tips, you can help ensure that Halloween remains a fun and enjoyable holiday for everyone while minimizing potential risks.

Please remember that if you are going out and parting please don't drink and drive and drink responsibility. Call a Cab.

And as always have a Happy and Safe Halloween

If you're in an unsafe domestic situation and have a hidden secondary phone:

Wednesday, October 4th, FEMA is conducting a national test for emergency alerts. Your phone will get the alert anywhere from 2:20 pm (Eastern time) to 2:50 pm. The signal will start being broadcasted at 2:20 and will last for 30 minutes but your phone will only alert once. Do not turn your phone back on until you are safe to do so as the phone could alert when reactivated.

The sudden noise of this alert could disclose the location of your hidden device, so it's best to power it completely down during that time.

Stay safe.
