✨ Update 11/2 ✨

Tonight brings an overwhelming rush of different emotions. Exhaustion, fear, gratefulness, hope... they've all had a play today. We've been trying for several days to get in touch with people to update our stay, due to the wait on FEMA.

Long, looong story. In between trips to stash our belongings somewhere, Ms. Carol (the homeowner that we had absolutely no contact information for) called us. I had left our number because checkout was at 10 am and it was already 11 am. This wonderful woman donated the house for weekend to us. PRAISE JESUS 🙏🏻 We will be moving to a cabin until the 7th of November. God is still in control!

With that being said, we are working towards the homestead lifestyle. We know that times are incredibly hard and very likely going to get worse. This Amazon list will get us started in the right direction, while keeping us safe and warm. Please share this with friends and family that may have items similar for donation if you're close by us! Hey y'all 🫂 We've been asked to put together a wishlist of purchases we're looking to make soon. This is a very LARGE list because we lost the entire property we were renting to hurricane Helene. The landlord handed out eviction notices (multiple people) on October 4th. She will not be fixing any property or home damages. We no longer have anywhere to live. We don't own any property. We don't have "extra" funds. The charity group that was working with us exhausted their housing funds and our rental ends November 2nd @ 10am. We are still pending with FEMA. As of the 28th, they said our application had been reviewed and was processing. We're making daily phone calls to keep them updated.

SO!! Our plan is to be as prepared for outdoor living as possible. There are a couple properties that will allow us to stay for a few weeks, but there's no housing. We have 3 large fur babies (no children) and the rental options are non-existent. Our plans after FEMA, involve purchasing a small piece of property and everything on our list will be set up there then. We are looking to set up a small homestead and continue our journey at Cripple Hill Farms.

✨ UPDATE ✨ 10/30 ✨
We've been in contact with FEMA multiple times in the past week. Our status is still "pending" even though our inspection date was October 5th AND reinspection was the 12th. **Edited to add : according to FEMA our application has been "reviewed and is processing" ....for over a week!

7-10 business days my butt! 😡

I understand that it's a disaster. I understand there are many others. I AM STILL AFFECTED! We are literally losing our rental on November 2nd because the incredible (God sent!) people at Catholic Charities have exhausted their funds. They've literally put a roof over our heads this month.

We don't own land. We don't have rainy day funds stashed. We don't have any extra options. So...what now?

✨ Update 10/14✨
🗞️ There is SO much to catch up on from just a few days. It seems like life is on fast forward ⏩ but stuck in slow motion at the same time. Talk about 😵‍💫 nauseating!
🏠 FEMA declared the house "uninhabitable or inaccessible" so we've been in the 🏨 Best Western in Newport. I must say, what an 🤯 incredible staff here. From the front desk to housekeeping, everyone is welcoming, extremely helpful, and supportive. (The dogs think 🐾 they're on vacation! They're not 👀 fond of neighbors so close, but they've been SO good.)
⛪ The Catholic Church here in Newport has gone above and beyond ✝️ any government agency in taking care of us. They have LITERALLY kept us from being homeless. There will never be words 🙏🏻 to express the gratitude in our hearts.
🤔 We were denied moving and storage fees from FEMA. Which is funny considering they told us our house was unsafe. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We were told that if we submit our receipts they would reimburse us. We've got our storage unit and we're looking 🚚 to rent a Uhaul to transport stuff until we have a permanent housing 🏡 situation.
🤳🏻 I have a bunch of messages that I honestly haven't been able to respond to. Please forgive me. I'm exhausted and 😫 having a flare. My body is just refusing to cooperate with my 🧠 brain.
🫂 I am so thankful for ALL of you! Every prayer is truly felt and we thank you. Your support 💪🏻 is helping us survive.

It's a sad day here. Unfortunately when we came to check on our babies today, Mike found most of them 😭 the neighbors (that don't take care of their dogs...whole FRIGGIN ISSUE) 🤬 untied the dogs and let them eat my chickens. After tying the dogs back up they then have the nerve to walk all the way over just to let us know "all we can do is offer our apologies" ..... Seriously?!

Our house has been ransacked. Our landlord (and her son) cut our lock and destroyed the belongings I had left that we've been desperately trying to get out.

Good morning ✨ wonderful friends! Yesterday was another day of chaos, headaches, and blessings. We (mostly Mike) have been salvaging what we can from the house. Most of our important belongings (⚱️, etc.) are SAFE. Praise God 🙏🏻 The house is a total loss. There is mold everywhere inside already and especially under the house. The smell there is... let's just say, memorable. 😵‍💫 I myself can't go inside, even with a mask. Our breathing this morning from being there yesterday is atrocious. With that being said, a few incredible ladies from the Church Of The Good Shepherd made arrangements for us to stay in a room for a few days. THANK YOU JESUS 🥹

We are blessed to have a storage unit. Unfortunately our storage unit is in Abingdon, Virginia. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We're trying to get funds together to be able to take things like our bed and other large items. We're working with a few different places to try and find housing as well. As of now, our checkout is set for Oct. 6th. 😭 If anyone wants to donate directly to the hotel please PM me ( Emily Mike Bartholow ) or send me a text (276) 269-1454. There will never be words to express the gratitude in our hearts. We are so blessed to have so many people praying for us and on our behalf. While the stress and chaos is immense, my God is BIGGER. He will never let me down.

These are just a few pictures of the damages. I haven't been able to get in the living room or kitchen yet to get pictures there, but it's just as bad if not worse in the kitchen.

Jesus NEVER fails us. He never forgets us. He will always provide.

Honey Hill Farm of Hawesville Ky brought LIVE SAVING essentials to our Bridgeport community. Please 🙏🏻 follow and support this amazing family. God is using Rachel and Vance more than they could ever know. They will forever remain a blessing in our lives.

We got confirmation this morning that RC/ FEMA/ TEMA is officially turning away ANY donations. The only thing they want is MONEY. On top of that, they're removing all volunteers. Just so everyone knows, this money will NOT be used to help any of the small communities like us that didn't have much to start with. This is beyond devastating.

Please if you have any way to donate to local churches that are helping, DO IT. If you know people here, donate directly to them. We all need help and prayers.

I want to send a SPECIAL thank you to the ones that have donated. I want you to know that every penny literally counts. If all you can spare is a dollar, know that that dollar honestly makes a difference. Jesus sees your heart and we feel your pure love.

We are doing all we can to pay your love forward. Our community needed help BEFORE this horrific disaster. I pray that Jesus uses us to spread His love and grow His kingdom.

I apologize for my absence online, but we're trying to clear out our belongings. We've been placed in a hotel for now. Our house is uninhabitable. We're trying to find places to store our stuff until we can figure out where to go. Please keep us all close in prayer. We will always be and 🫂🖤

UPDATE: PRAISES!
Honey Hill Farm of Hawesville Ky has been in contact with Cripple Hill Farms this morning and is sending some much needed resources to the Bridgeport area!

Anyone with specific needs please send me a PM ASAP so that I can get all information to these wonderful people. They will be bringing things like wipes, charcoal, and other essentials.

We NEED HELP! East TN was not prepared for what actually hit us. How can you tell people not to help?!

We are accepting donations through PayPal currently to supply wipes, charcoal, garbage bags, cleaners, bed sheets and blankets, GASOLINE for our generator, gas for the vehicle to get to donation spots in town.... The needs are overwhelming. Please if you have people here, send any help you can.

✨ Mike and I are safe.
✨ Our home is still standing

Our water is off with no known timeframe. Due to extenuating circumstances, we're currently running on a generator. Clean up is going to be a process. Our little town has suffered a massive hit. Businesses (LOTS of small businesses) have been completely destroyed. Homes literally washed down the river behind our house. Roads, bridges, and railroad tracks have been busted, broken, and compromised. We honestly tried to prepare, but how do you prepare for the unknown? The river rose over 26 feet. 🤯 Our house has about 3 ft of water damage on the back inside. We need quite a few things. Baby wipes, construction sized trash bags, lysol, etc. There are so many things to do and we're just a little stunned. I am posting our PayPal for anyone that wants to help with necessities. If you are able and feel led to do so, please look into donating relief funds for the Cocke County area or any other areas that have been devastated. Prayers are always welcome and truly felt 🙏🏻
