Doesn’t seem like it’s been 4 years today… I’ve met some great folks since then that have become like family. If I’m not too tired from working in this heat today I think I might try to get some slime in the boat… and get lucky again…😂😂 Still the biggest fish to come out of Lake Gaston to date.

We decided to put off booking any guide trips for the last few months due to Melissa being in NP school/ work schedule and having the kiddos along with a busy fence schedule and hunting season with the boys but it’s always nice to kick off the first catfish trip of the year with a PB in the boat. Shout out to our good friends at Hooker's Terminal Tackle for keeping us squared away, also we have to say the Keatts planer boards(Jonathan Keatts) are some of the best boards I’ve tried out when pulling big baits away from the boat. Well unfortunately as hard as I try to keep a 5 star rating this week has taken a toll on both the Blue Persuasion Fishing Guide Service business and now Deerfield Fence Co. LLC… As many great reviews that we have gotten through the years I have no choice but to turn off the reviews at this point. This sucks when people have nothing better to do then this right here….

We started out the 2024 year with being the guest speaker with a PowerPoint presentation at the Lake Gaston Lions club for the Lake Gaston Striper Club. We finally didn’t have a kids ballgame going on when asked to speak this go round and was able to make it last night with a great crowd. We displayed a lot of products for everyone from CTF Precision Crappie Rods, Hellcats, Striper Stealth rods, Smackdown Rod holders, Hookers Terminal tackle products. We also brought our Sea Ark boat for everyone to look at how it’s setup. We had great crowd interaction throughout the night that lasted 2 full hours. We are excited about the 2024 year and what’s to come specially after being asked to speak at the East Tennessee Fishing Expo at the end of this month as well. Unfortunately we weren’t able to attend because of a tournament trail we are part of on the same dates which was still a honor. Thanks to everyone of our friends, family and sponsors that make all these things possible. My favorite time of the year and my favorite tournament of the year. Last year we couldn’t fish it but this year we made the trip up. Did a ton of scanning and very little lines in the water before this tournament and felt good about a game plan. Day 1 we had to grind because the big fish we were on didn’t wanna chew. We were able to scratch up enough weight with our 2 fish to put us sitting in 25th going into day two. Day 2 started out with a good fish right at 60 # but we knew we needed a hammer to even have a shot… Needless to say Bryan Dent hung into a really good fish peeling drag to get him halfway to the boat and broke our main line off before I could get him in the net. So if y’all see Bryan today y’all give him a hug to pep him up..😂😂Bryan and myself enjoy this tournament and look forward to fishing it every year together.

We never stopped grinding throughout the day fighting the wind to try to stay on these fish, we culled throughout the day but never could get the one we needed. We were able to make a good jump to finish the tournament and gave us a top 10 finish out of 110 of the best anglers in the country for one of the biggest tournaments and best on the east coast. Great job as always Trey Thorpe, Matthew Miles and Zebco Rick on a well ran and respected tournament. Y’all boys do a top notch job at putting this tournament together and it really shows. I wanna thank all my sponsors for everything they do for us and a big shoutout to my buddy James N. Arwood as he came in clutch for me when I needed a few things right before the tournament and we can’t thank him and Hooker's Terminal Tackle enough, those backstabber hooks were on point.
It was great seeing everyone and getting to talk with y’all and hang out at the captains meeting. It was also good hanging out with our buddies Curtis Weston and Bradley Peregoy while shooting the breeze as my pop would say.

Congrats to everyone that placed yesterday yall earned it! And last but not least thank the man above for allowing me to be able to enjoy doing these things. Now it’s time to get back to crappie fishing and chasing these big bucks with my lil fellas! See y’all on the next one!!

It’s official now, me and ole Bryan Perry going down to Alabama to fish Logan Martin lake against some of the best in the country. This is the Super Bowl of tournaments in the crappie fishing world and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Had two fellas book a trip with us courtesy of Zakk Royce referring them this evening/night. Dennis and Mark told me that they didn’t care about catching numbers they wanted that one big bite… I said I like the way y’all fellas think! After all the jet skis and wakeboards went to bed we made it happen. To say these ole boys we’re excited would be a understatement. We hit’em again this morning…. These boys had me and Delmar netting fish and baiting hooks more then we had lines in the water. Weston caught his biggest Walleye this morning and had a total of 3. We had another great charter trip yesterday evening/night on the lake. This father and son team had a blast as several times they were both doubled up fighting fish at the same time. Kept a few to throw in the grease.
