Joanna Seidel has been counselling individuals, families and children and has helped couples re-connect for over a decade. Claire Houston joined Western Law in 2018. Her primary research interests include family law, children’s law, feminist legal theory, and criminal law, with a particular focus on state regulation of the family.
Claire is currently leading a study looking at the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the family justice system in Ontario, which is being funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario. She is also the 2021 recipient of the Dean’s Research Fellowship for her project on spousal support for men.
In 2019, Claire was awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Explore Grant for her project, “Respecting and Protecting Trans and Gender Non-Conforming Children in Canada’s Family Courts.”
Claire’s work has appeared in the Canadian Journal of Family Law, the Michigan Journal of Gender and Law, and the Family Court Review. She is co-editor (with Mary-Jo Maur and Nicholas Bala) of the casebook Family Law: Text, Cases, Materials & Notes, 10th Edition.
Claire’s awards and distinctions include the SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship, the Byse Teaching Fellowship (Harvard Law School), the Julius B. Richmond Fellowship (Center on the Developing Child, Harvard University) and the Harvard University Certificate of Distinction in Teaching.
Claire articled at the Ontario Office of the Children’s Lawyer before clerking for justices of the Ontario Court of Appeal. She was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2008.

Jared is a social worker in private practice specializing in services for families experiencing high conflict separation and divorce. He provides a range of services including Parenting Coordination, mediation, assessment, voice of the child reports, and therapeutic interventions.
Jared is a panel clinician with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer and a Collaborative Family Professional. ABOUT TROITSCHANSKI:
Anna Troitschanski joined the team at Feldstein Family Law Group, P.C. in 2012. Prior to that, she practised Family Law at a boutique Newmarket firm. Her experience covers all areas of divorce and family law, including custody and access, child support, spousal support, and division of property. Anna is well versed in various forms of alternative dispute resolution such as negotiation and arbitration, but she is also armed with the necessary skills to defend her clients’ interests in court.
Prior to practising family law, Anna worked for Canada’s largest criminal law firm, Pinkofskys Criminal Trial and Appeal Lawyers, where she honed her litigation skills. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario in 2006 and her LL.B from the University of Ottawa in 2009.

Lauren joined Feldstein Family Law Group as a Summer Student in 2020 and returned as an Articling Student in 2021-2022. Following her Call to the Ontario Bar in April 2022, Lauren was welcomed back to the firm as an Associate.
Prior to completing her legal studies and obtaining her Juris Doctor at the University of Western Ontario, Lauren obtained her Honour’s Bachelor of Arts Degree at Wilfrid Laurier University majoring in Criminology and minoring in Law and Society.
Lauren’s keen interest in family law peaked during her time at the University of Western Ontario where she completed family law courses and was a Caseworker in the Family Law Clinic of Community Legal Services which is a community legal clinic and a clinical education program that provides free legal serves to low-income people in the London community and to Fanshawe College and Western University students. Lauren was a member of the Walsh Family Law Moot Team in her 2nd year at Western University and went on to be the student coach of the team during her 3rd year.
Lauren is an approachable and practical advocate for her clients. Lauren aims to provide individualized, high-quality service to suit her client’s individual needs to guide them through a challenging time in their lives. Lauren understands the sensitive nature of family law proceedings and works with her clients to arrive at creative solutions whether it be through court intervention or alternative dispute resolution.
Lauren’s practice covers all areas of family law, and she assists clients with issues such as parenting time, decision-making responsibility, child support and spousal support, and the division of property. In her spare time Lauren enjoys spending time outdoors, spending time with family and friends and cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
