The Brutal Truth by Helen Beer

Helen Beer sells for a living as a sales engineer for an industrial foundry—not a bad gig for an English major/Russian history minor. Her poetry and prose have appeared in Literary Potpourri, F***G, Typishly, Flash Fiction Magazine, Persimmon Tree, The First Line, 101 Words, Sky Island Journal, STORGY Magazine, Haunted Waters Press, The Write Launch, Twisted Vine Literary Arts Journal, Prometheus Dreaming, Defenestration, Sisyphus and, most recently, a non-fiction piece in the Nervous Ghost Press anthology, Writing for Life. When not working or writing, she enjoys the Zen-like tranquility afforded by time spent riding her horse and mucking stalls.

"Verses of Hope Within Us" a TEDx Talk with Haunted Waters Press Contributor Elaine Nadal

Elaine weaves her talk with three original poems. She speaks of loss and hope. Poetry has taught her to sing and dance again and not be afraid to have hope. Hope had always brought her suffering and tragedy in the past. She has decided to change that outlook. Elaine Nadal is a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net-nominee, as well as the author of two poetry chapbooks: When and Sweat, Dance, Sing, Cut, published by Finishing Line Press. Her work has appeared in several journals and anthologies, including Beyond Words Literary Magazine, Haunted Waters Press, Hoot Review, Grasslimb, and Latino Book Review Magazine. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

"Torment" by Elaine Nadal appeared in From the Depths and SPLASH! in 2018.

Meet Haunted Waters Press Contributor Alan Bern

Retired children’s librarian Alan Bern has published three books of poetry. Half a century ago he cofounded broadside press/publisher Lines & Faces with artist/printer Robert Woods. Oh yes, he is obsessed with Italia: he worked with classicist Donald Carne-Ross on translating from Italian. Alan also photographs and has begun to combine his photos and words as a part of his daily art practice. Clearly, Alan favors hybridity and complex collaborations: he performs with the dancer/choreographer Lucinda Weaver along with musicians and light artists as PACES: dance & poetry fit to the space and also with musicians from Composing Together.
