Hi! Thank you for loving our Ali - sadly, we all lost this living Angel two weeks ago, today! She passed peacefully at home on Monday, October 21, at 5:05pm, surrounded by family and friends. We all knew this day might be coming, but it all happened much quicker than any one wanted or expected, even Ali.

As you know, Ali loved her family & friends fiercely and although she had a strong desire to see, touch, connect with each person individually, sadly, from the moment she knew she had a matter of weeks, she lost energy too quickly to make that wish a reality.

We hope you can attend her Celebration of Life, January 26, in Clovis, CA. And, if you know of others who loved Ali, please help us spread the word, by sharing this info.

“My name is Ali, but I am also an ally” – Allison Murphy.

On behalf of the students, faculty, staff, and alumnx of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies LGBTQ2+ Studies minor, we honor Allison Murphy and Chloe Anne Lacey's enduring legacy.

Our LGBTQIA2S+ and allied communities deeply cherished Allison. She was known for her unwavering advocacy and compassionate spirit. She exemplified what it means to be a true ally with her dedication to creating a better world for transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals, driven by a fierce love for her daughter, Chloe.

Chloe was a gifted artist, a lover of nature, a loyal friend, and a cherished family member. As a transgender woman, she was just beginning her journey toward her authentic self when she tragically passed away by su***de before turning 19. In the wake of Chloe’s death, Allison found purpose in advocating for a kinder, more compassionate, and just future for those like her daughter—a future where individuals don’t merely survive but thrive.

At Fresno State’s Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, we are deeply committed to Allison’s vision of a just and loving world for people of all genders and sexual identities. We are humbled by Allison and Chloe's profound impact on our community, and we carry their legacy forward in our mission.

Allison Murphy & Chloe Anne Lacey Scholarship Fund

Allison Murphy (1972-2024) has included a provision in her estate plans to establish the Allison Murphy & Chloe Anne Lacey Scholarship Fund. An endowed memorial scholarship fund, its official name includes Chloe Anne Lacey (1991-2010), her Transgender daughter who had succumbed to su***de.

The earnings of this endowment will support Fresno State students with a declared minor in LGBTQ2+ Studies. This new academic program is in the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies within the College of Social Sciences.
