Don’t forget to pick up your yearbook tomorrow!

🌅

05/19/2023

Attention all FHS seniors and students!

Yearbook Pick Up will be on Wednesday, May 24th! Two signing events will be available so students can sign each other’s books:

7:20 to TST(7:50) held in front of the high school (weather permitting)
11:20 to Noon by the main office

Under no circumstances will yearbooks be distributed prior to the signing event on May 24th. Each yearbook will come with a flier – it is highly recommended that students read this flier before writing in their book.

The yearbook staff is also partnering with Rise and Shine Donuts to provide students who purchased a yearbook with a free donut!

Due to construction and relocating of classrooms, yearbooks will not be available for pick up during the summer.

On Monday, May 22nd, there will be a list posted outside of Mr. Stevens’ room with names of students who have purchased a yearbook.

Help us clean! The journalism department is moving to a new location within the building. Due to an overload of previously ordered materials, space is limited. Take a trip down memory lane and buy an old yearbook. Books published before 2022, are $10. Books from 2022 are $20. Head to the office and bring your money. Email David Stevens for more information.

It was a long week in the journalism lab at FHS. The journalism students worked on their entries for the NSAA State Journalism and UNO High School Media contests.

Here the newspaper students gather around the screen and debate about what font to use on a spread.

Bill Doleman, a sports broadcaster, met newspaper and yearbook students today to teach them broadcasting basics. Doleman currently teaches at UNL and is a freelancer who has worked with NBC Sports, ESPN, Fox Sports, Big Ten Network, etc. He has broadcasted the last 4 Olympics with NBC and has provided commentary for 30+ different sports. Doleman’s career first started in a high school journalism room similar to B34 at FHS. From Fairbury, Neb. to broadcasting some of the world’s biggest sporting events, Doleman is passing the torch to the next generation of journalists.
