In the words of Fredonia Professor of Music - Bassoon, Laura Koepke, "When great women do great things, let's share the great news!" We couldn't agree more! 💙💙💙
"The Fredonia Wind Ensemble, directed by our own Dr. Paula Holcomb, received a RAVE review [link in comments] by BBC Music Magazine of their recording of "Carnival" by acclaimed composer Augusta Read Thomas - Composer, in addition to being named Recording of the Month," said Koepke.
"The recording features incredible bassoon soloist, Nadina Mackie Jackson. Thanks to the generous support of The Sorel Organization, under the leadership of Fredonia School of Music alum Wende Persons! These FIVE INCREDIBLE WOMEN had the vision, dedication, and collaborative strength to make this happen."
"The Sorel Organization is thrilled to have provided support for [this] worthy endeavor," said Persons. "And what an accomplishment for a college ensemble to excel with this kind of international recognition. Well done!"
Congratulations, all!! Dr. Paula Holcomb, Augusta Read Thomas, Nadina Mackie Jackson, Bernd Gottinger, the amazing students of the Fredonia Wind Ensemble and our student engineers, our music faculty, Wende Persons, and the OG, Claudette Sorel!
