On this beautiful summer hike we walk along (and across!) the majestic Nantahala River. Dan Pittillo, a founding member of the North Carolina Bartram Trail Society, former President and current board member of the club, and Burt Kornegay, a former President and board member, discuss how the Bartram Trail was created. Learn the history of the people who volunteered their time and energy to create this wonderful place for us to feel the soft earth under and feet and the warm sunshine on our face.

Walking With Bartram – Section Hike #12 – Lake Nantahala to Appletree Campground
Join the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy and Backlot Cinema on our twelfth section of the 110-mile Bartram Trail.
On this relatively short hike from Lake Nantahala to Appletree Campground, we learn a little about how the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail maintains all 110 miles of trail. We also meet some of the Southeast Conservation Corps Crew who spent 16 weeks working on the trail, engaging in meaningful education and service to the community.
Volunteers are the backbone of maintaining the Bartram Trail! Find out how you can help make a difference.
