In 2018, collaborated with to make is a short silent film about anxiety. It did very well on the festival circuit. On a whim, I decided to submit it to in Hollywood, CA.

This past weekend, I attended the screening where the film got a warm reception. It was one of the best festival experiences I had. Not only did the film screen well, but we won for Best Thriller. A major congrats to the entire cast and crew who made it possible. It’s amazing to see this film still thrive even a few years later, especially in the heart of Hollywood. What made the weekend even more special was being with my partner, my rock, and my love, .

Stories in Motion loves making music videos. The great thing about music videos is being able to experiment with story in a linear and/or non-linear way. It’s especially fun to use analog formats like film or tape along with digital. If you're a band or artist looking for a video of your song or songs, reach out with an inquiry.

New year, new reel. This is my updated cinematography reel for 2022. 2021 was a solid year of projects. Big thanks to the directors and producers for entrusting me in creating the look of their pictures and to the crew members who made these shots possible.

I'm pleased to share the trailer for my latest directing effort, "Undertaker," a short surreal drama written by Kris Salvi.

What I loved about the story upon first reading it was its existential themes and subtextual dialogue. More importantly, it was an immense pleasure working with the incredibly talented cast of Dustin Teuber, Jennifer Mary, Justin Thibault, Teddy Pryor, Michael Leporē, and Kris Salvi.

A huge shoutout to the incredible crew who made this look as good as it does. Colin Munson, Sam Lucca, Zachariah Suto, Ryan Collins, and Gabrielle Rosson. A huge thank you to Jay Sheehan for his sound mix on this trailer and to my frequent collaborator and composer, Steven Lanning-Cafaro.

Please share the trailer and see the film on Oct 9th at the Elm Draught House Cinema as part of the An Indescribable Film Fest!.

Tonight at 6pm, the trailer for the latest short film from Stories in Motion, "Undertaker," will be dropping online. It was an immense pleasure directing this film. When I first read the script by Kris Salvi, I was captivated by its surrealism and how much it spoke to me. The cast includes many talents, including Dustin Teuber, Jennifer Mary, Justin Thibault, Teddy Pryor, Michael Leporē, and Kris Salvi.

I also had an incredible crew that consisted of Colin Munson, Sam Lucca, Zachariah Suto, Ryan Collins, and Gabrielle Rosson.

Before you see the trailer, enjoy the poster by Michael Lepore of Causarē. The film will be screening for the first time at An Indescribable Film Fest! on Oct. 9th.

As many know, directing is my first love and main trade. It's been 3 years since I directed my last film that involved a full cast and crew (that being Imposter). This past weekend, I finally got back to directing with a new film, a short surreal drama, "Undertaker." As written by Kris Salvi, this script spoke to me in volumes while also sharing my sensibilities as a storyteller in both style and theme.

I was lucky to have a great cast that included Dustin Teuber, Jennifer Mary, Justin Thibault, Teddy Pryor, Michael Leporē, and Kris Salvi. Behind the camera, I had the talents of Colin Munson, Sam Lucca, Zachariah Suto, and Ryan Collins.

Finally, big thanks to Blue Moon Diner Gardner for providing one of our key locations. Check out our screenshots below (with a very rough color grade), and keep a lookout for a trailer and eventual festival screenings.

A short documentary I made last year, "Yesteryear," received a terrific review from Indie Shorts Mag. This was a special project that was made in the wake of the pandemic to bring positivity during trying times while also making a piece about mortality. It was also a film that was made when another project I was to direct was postponed.

"Documentaries are designed to be informative and educational, but ones such as these are simply reminders of what human creativity is capable of. In the unknown and unplanned footage and videos made some three decades ago, we find that binding them together in a relatively measured way can still spring us with surprise. And, Yesteryear does that and more."

Photos, homemade videos have a distinct vibe to them. Regardless of whose ever it is, the grainy film, sepia-toned images carry a charm of a bygone era and time that warm our hearts. Nostalgia is what we turn to when reality becomes too much to bear. And in Chris Esper’s 13:52-minute documentary, ...

Our Story

Hello, I'm Chris Esper, founder of Stories in Motion.

I started Stories in Motion as a production company because I not only love filmmaking, but I also love storytelling. For me, powerful and effective filmmaking and videography starts with the story. My goal with every project is to take this philosophy and make it the sole purpose of what I do and what my company does. From narrative films to music videos, corporate videos, weddings, and much more, I aim to not just capture the shot, but also the story.

Originally from New Jersey, I developed a passion and love for film at a very young age. When I was in my teens, I received my first camera and started experimenting with it. It was love at first frame. After high school, I attended the New England Institute of Technology in East Greenwich, RI where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Digital Recording Arts. I have since directed several award-winning short films, including "Still Life," "Please Punish Me," "The Deja Vuers," and "Undatement Center," which have gone on to screen at a number of film festivals domestically and overseas. Currently, I reside in Attleboro, MA. Drop me a line if you have any questions or inquiries.

Thanks for stopping by!
