Stories in Motion is a production company with the sole purpose of bringing out the story in any project in a cinematic way. From narrative films to music videos to corporate videos to weddings and much more, we do more than just film the project, we tell a story that's touches an audience. It was founded by Chris Esper, who's an award winning filmmaker/videographer based out of Attleboro, MA.

It's been a while! Stories in Motion still offers demo reel services for both editing and shooting. This is the latest reel I put together. This time for the immensely talented Jennifer Drummond, whom I enjoyed directing in my short film, "Undertaker." Jennifer is a delight to work with, and her range as an actor is unmatched.

I am pleased to share "Undertaker," which I directed in 2021. It had a strong life on the festival circuit, being accepted into 13 film festivals, nominated for 7 awards, and won 4. It's a story of a man discovering his world is not all it seems and realizing that he is not what he is.

When I first read the script by Kris Salvi, I fell in love with the material. It matched my sensibilities as a storyteller and filmmaker with its surreal, Twilight Zone-esque, ambiguous approach. This is partially why I chose to shoot it in black and white. I was also inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky's film, "Stalker," when making it. Ultimately, there were different ways to look at the story. Kris had his own reasons for writing it and his own interpretation of the story, as did I. This was a fun production that was very collaborative among the incredibly talented cast and crew. Without them, it would not have been possible. To date, one of my favorite films to make. We hope you enjoy and share.

Cinema has always fascinated me in its humble beginnings. The initial start of the medium was by way of Nickelodeons where one would crank a handle to see a moving image as persistence of vision took over. Eventually, stories were added to these moving images, thus creating movies as we know today. This was basis behind choosing Stories in Motion as my production company name in 2016. The idea was to show how storytelling is paramount in in the moving image. With that said, I’m pleased to present a new logo design for Stories in Motion, which was created by the brilliant Causarē Lepore of Causarē.

Our Story

Hello, I'm Chris Esper, founder of Stories in Motion.

I started Stories in Motion as a production company because I not only love filmmaking, but I also love storytelling. For me, powerful and effective filmmaking and videography starts with the story. My goal with every project is to take this philosophy and make it the sole purpose of what I do and what my company does. From narrative films to music videos, corporate videos, weddings, and much more, I aim to not just capture the shot, but also the story.

Originally from New Jersey, I developed a passion and love for film at a very young age. When I was in my teens, I received my first camera and started experimenting with it. It was love at first frame. After high school, I attended the New England Institute of Technology in East Greenwich, RI where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Digital Recording Arts. I have since directed several award-winning short films, including "Still Life," "Please Punish Me," "The Deja Vuers," and "Undatement Center," which have gone on to screen at a number of film festivals domestically and overseas.
