Here’s a replay of Marcus Jones’ game winning punt return TD!
Looks like we have some controversy on our hands from Monday night’s game vs the Bears.
It appears that on Mac’s interception, the ball hits the guide wire for the sky cam and the trajectory is altered as a result. This ball should have been ruled dead and the down retried.
No one catches this and Belichick opts to bench Mac instead of challenging the play.
Some people fall in love with crazy sidearm throws and 80 yard bombs when evaluating quarterbacks. But for me, this is the stuff that makes me sit back and say "wow"
Zappe has the pocket presence of a 10 year veteran. Straight off the snap, he stepped up in a pocket that didn't even exist yet before dropping a dime into Jakobi's hands for a touchdown. There was an earlier play where he juked the #2 overall pick out of his shoes on a free rush, turning a 10 yard sack into a 5 yard gain.
Manil wrote yesterday that we should all cool our jets with Zappe, and I agree with what he said. But Mac can and should take as much time as he needs to get back to 100%, because in the meantime I have all the confidence in the world in this kid.

Tyquon Thronton TORCHES His Man
Camp Recap, Week 2
-The defense has clearly been the better unit through the first 2 weeks of camp, leading to multiple players voicing their frustration at the podium and vowing to fix the problems.
-The offensive line finally had some wins today after being the weakest unit on the field since pads came on, with Cole Strange being particularly impressive on opening up running lanes.
-Tyquon Thornton has started working with the first team offense, while fellow rookie Marcus Jones working in the slot with the starting defense. Jones also seems to be in the lead for the punt return job. Both have had very impressive training camps so far and could be key contributors right out of the gate.
-Belichick has dialed back the amount of contact substantially this year in camp, which means we may not know the true physicality of the team until later in the pre-season when starters will get reps, though some may be fighting for positions as early as Thursday Night against the Giants.
Mac-->Parker back shoulder TD
Camp Recap, Day 2:
-The defense obviously didn't appreciate getting torched yesterday and dominated 11-on-11s today, preventing a catch on 10 straight plays.
-Rhamondre Stevenson took first team reps and afterwards spoke about getting leaner and working on route running in the off-season.
-Matt Patricia once again had the walkie talkie, and Belichick was worming closely with him with a playsheet of his own.
Mac-->Agholor for the first TD of Camp
Camp Recap, Day 1:
-Mac Jones went 18/22, absolutely lighting up the defense in no-contact red zone scrimmages
-Matt Patricia was given a walkie talkie connecting to Jones' helmet, appearing to call plays
-DeVante Parker stole the show with 3 great touchdown grabs over 3 different corners
-Belichick has said more good things about Mac in the last 2 days than it feels he had about Brady in 20 years
Jason McCourty made one of the most unbelievable plays to save an easy TD, making the Patriots 6x Super Bowl champs. Good luck in retirement Jmac!
Mac Jones rocking out to some Bon Jovi!
