GMTV Christmas Classic Auction was a success, book is closed, onto the next.
No one has ever sold merch like this en mass at a dealer only sale sale, on a red light, with an average price over 100 grand and average age of 40 yrs. Simply has not been done, ever.
Designing our new facility inside Manheim Dallas a few years ago, which I laughing dubbed “center of the wholesale universe” was a good fit for today. Dallas is Center of the U.S., equidistant transport to all corners and coasts of our country,
8 lanes, all digital, inside one room with a center stage that has digital auction blocks for all lanes, big leather chairs like a hybrid between NYSE & Vegas sports book.
Similar to us building the exotic business inside dallas like Bob Hollenshead had done in Pensylvania, and with Bob’s personal tireless coaching we accomplished that goal.
Next we Wanted to build a Barrett-jackson type platform, for dealers, without the excessive fees (bring a trailer but where people actually pay what their winning bid), so we could transact and trade these CC units freely without fee welding into the unit. We have been building that C&C business over the past 24 months, S L O W L Y.
In 2024 we Launched www.GMTVCC.com, I’ve attended half the CC auctions in the US over past year, learning, trading, losers, winners. Up down up down, but today it all came together.
Serveral asking “did it make money” yes it made money, but more important is it actually worked.
We had the right cars, we had the right people, we had the right action, the right feel, it just flowed right. Today gave the confidence this C&C thing will become as important to the GMTV brand as the exotics are, the trucks, the Camrys, and everything in between.
It’s back to Hot Wheels. Hours of playing with silly ass Hot Wheels. Line em up, sorted em out, collected them, stored them, just geeked smooth out over Hot Wheels, colors, the designs, etc.
To be able to make a living playing with Hot Wheels is really what this is all about 🤠.
Sold em all except 1 (VIN #5), and it’s spoken for from an outside pre sale bid. it’s heading to GMTV Garage in the Hill Country metropolis of (pop 700) Walnut Springs until the deal funds, which I have no reason to believe it won’t.
Thanks again to all the GMTV staff for turning wrenches, sorting documents, transport, docket lineup, auctioneers, paint correctors, title inspectors, money handlers, video/media staff, utility people catching pop flys, fouls and grounders coming at us from different directions. It’s a lot, but man it sure was fun!
Special thanks to Shelby Smith with Elite Auto in Arkansas for putting this together, Richard Rollins and Dennis Collins for the promo help, Frank at Earth Motors for recruiting buyers. All that stuff adds up and makes a difference.
Merry Christmas
