The Best Little Listening Room in Texas will be finishing out the month with top notch singer songwriters you know and some you need to get too know! Every artist(s) I book I believe in and love or wouldn’t book it. Hopefully I can build your trust. The more you trust me and support the shows, the more diversified artists I can bring and introduce you to. I invision a day where patrons sell out every show for every artist, whether they know the name or not. I used to get so fired as fan when I discovered music before anyone else! I love booking the big names but we need to start leaning toward discovering the artists that need to be heard and discovered. That’s a big part off the culture we need to develop in this listening room. One can dream right?

Did you know?

In the early 20th century, the Santa Fe Depot in Cleburne, Texas, was a pivotal hub for the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railway. Constructed in 1898, this two-story brick building featured a Harvey House restaurant, serving travelers until
1931. The depot was integral to Cleburne's economy, especially with the establishment of major locomotive backshops by the Santa Fe Railroad, which became the city's largest employer for nearly a century. The depot's significance extended beyond transportation, as it also served as a social center for the community. However, the original structure was demolished in the 1990s to accommodate road expansion. In 1999, a new intermodal station was built, continuing to serve Amtrak trains and housing Cletran, the local bus transit system.

Good Morning!

Oh dang that’s COLD weather is on the way and will be here by tomorrow morning with the temp being 22° when you wake up Sunday morning.

Beyond the cold, we shouldn’t see many impacts to infrastructure. But, here are some takeaways:

1) A strong cold front will move through tonight into Saturday morning.

2) Overnight lows will be in the low 20’s – Teens tonight through Friday morning a week from now. (drip your faucets overnight cold).

3) There is a 20% chance of snow flurries with little to no accumulation Monday night into Tuesday morning.

4) There is a LOW chance that highs Monday and Tuesday remain below freezing, but it’s very likely we will get a degree or two above freezing both days.

I will be dripping my faucets overnight until Friday, maybe even Saturday next week. The most common homes that had issues during the last deep freeze were manufactured homes and newer brick homes whose water lines are run in the attic above the garage.

NWS has indicated they will not be sending a partner email update until Sunday, so I may not have any updates until then unless something changes.

JCSUD will be sharing more tips and information throughout the week on ways to protect your pipes during freezing weather. One helpful tip is to open cabinet doors under sinks, especially if pipes are located near exterior walls. This allows warm air to circulate the plumbing and reduces the risk of freezing. Additionally, keeping a steady indoor temperature above 55°F is essential, even if you plan to be away from home. A consistent temperature helps ensure that your pipes remain warm enough to prevent freezing.

Extra precautions are necessary for those living in mobile homes, campers, or pier and beam homes. Cold air can circulate underneath these homes, increasing the risk of frozen pipes. To mitigate this, consider installing skirting around the base or applying insulation to exposed pipes. Heat tape can be used to provide consistent warmth to vulnerable pipes. Additionally, closing vents that lead underneath the home can help reduce the flow of cold air.

If you have taken all other preventative measures and feel your pipes are still susceptible to freezing, allowing a slow drip of water from your faucet can keep water moving through the pipes, which makes it less likely to freeze. If a pipe does start to freeze, the drip can relieve pressure, reducing the likelihood of a burst pipe.
