The Immediate First Aid Kit is designed to be a readily accessible, quick-response resource while you access your main first aid supplies. It should include:
- 1 Field trauma dressing
- 5 Band-Aids (comprising 3 small and 2 large)
- Neosporin, either in individual packets or a small tube
- 1 pair of latex gloves
For waterproofing, place all items except the field dressing into a small ziplock bag. Then, put both the ziplock bag and the field dressing into a compact container, like a USGI compass pouch, or a pocket, ensuring the kit is easily reachable. If you are with others, it's important that each person carries their own immediate first aid kit. Moreover, everyone should be aware of the location of each other's kits. The general protocol in a group setting is to use the injured person's kit first when providing aid, keeping your own kit as a backup. This approach helps maintain the integrity of each individual's supplies.
