Necessity is the mother of invention…or at least some helpful hacks. A lifetime of living with a pack of pups has resulted in a few. Here are a couple: 1. When carpet is unavoidable, a plastic leaf rake does wonders before you vacuum. 2. A compressor (super handy even if you don’t have a shop) does WONDERS on dusty blinds. I have tried every blind cleaning gadget imaginable and, if they do work, it takes forever. But pop the blinds down, take them outside, hit them with compressed air and you can thoroughly dust them in less than 5 minutes! You don’t even have to open them, just hit both sides. 💖

HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY!!! ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️ I’d love to fill up your feed with all the precious pups that have rescued and delighted me over the years but instead I’ll stick to this merry band of misfits. What would we ever do without them?!?!

We recently welcomed this guy into our home. He’s amazing! ❤️ But he was unplanned. A friend’s family had taken him in as a puppy. I don’t know the circumstances…maybe a whim because he’s adorable, maybe due to the popularity of Bluey (which we ADORE) or maybe none of the above. But, in spite of their VERY best intentions, they had NO idea what they were getting into. Blue heeler puppies are not for the faint of heart and usually not a good “starter” pup, unless someone is fully aware and prepared for what they’re getting into. They made every effort to find him a loving home but rescues and shelters are overrun right now. So he joined our family. (And, in their defense, they were so loving and grateful, they insisted on covering all of his shots and we’re pretty sure they bought him every toy in the store. And, in case I didn’t mention before…he is a LOT!) Heelers are HIGH energy and probably smarter than most people. We love him to the moon and back…and I have no doubt they did too. In our home he has other pups to help run out his endless energy and who also do a phenomenal job of showing him the ropes. I could not imagine being his only outlet for running off his boundless energy. And, in spite of that, his affection is sometimes still akin to having a ball of barbed wire launched at your face. He’s trying to gnaw on me as I type this. I can’t even imagine having him as an only dog AND the first pup we’ve ever had. He’s smart as a whip. He figured out how to open doors in less than a week at our house, so nothing is out of bounds now. He’s a LOT. But I also know that he would already die for any member of our family and that he is going to be one of the MOST phenomenal dogs that has ever entered our lives, once we get past the stage of living with a hurricane inside our home. I know to my core that, if he leaves this world before me, my heart will shatter. I share all of this to say, PLEASE rescue these precious souls, but PLEASE do it with your eyes wide open, knowing that some pups are a better fit for your situation than others and ALL of them are worth the effort. ❤️

This guy joined our pack today. The family that had him was trying but it wasn’t a good fit. He’s already mastered the dog door, has been using it to go potty on his own and went to the door and squeaked when it was closed and he had to go. He’s been here for about 4 hours and we’re smitten. Some of our other pups aren’t quite to smitten yet, but they’re doing a great job. ❤️🐶🐾
