Tucked away in South Whitley is Fox Products Corporation , an internationally recognized powerhouse of double-reed instrument manufacturing. Now in their 75th year, they are delivering a high-end bassoon (the 750, named after their anniversary year), that is already making a big impact on the bassoon community. Derek, the owner of PUNCH, is an oboist married to a bassoonist and was geeking out about being able to tell this story. Watch it to the end; there is a great quote from Ben Kamins that will likely show up on some Fox T-shirts very soon! Shout out to the crew that managed a complex shoot with LOTS of camera angles and audio channels.

Never mind that PUNCH experienced a very disruptive pipe break and building flood the day after Christmas. Let’s build a water stage to help create this music video for our good friends at Fort Wayne Dance Collective Great dancers, creative choreography, and some slow-motion robotic motion control. Another chapter in the 3 Rivers Federal Credit Union “In Your Head Campaign”. This concept inspired some really great scenarios and script ideas from the PUNCH team, the 3 Rivers creatives, and writer Jameeleh Shilo. But… 30 seconds is the official time limit for a commercial so we had to make some choices.

We had a great collaboration with the MacKenzie-Childs creative team! They challenged us with a really unique take on a fun whimsical brand. This project was a bit of a flex for us, as we broke out the colored lights and new motion control robot!

The challenge. Find an outdoor ice skating rink in early October with beautiful views that evoke a holiday spirit, and fill it with talented skaters donning bright holiday Vera Bradley fashion. PUNCH was recently awarded a Silver Telly for our production of a “Holiday on Ice” TV spot for Vera Bradley. Filmed in Sun Valley Idaho, our production was enhanced by the season's first snowfall the night before our shoot. Special thanks to the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club for their incredible talent and tenacity over a long shoot day.

One of our favorite video campaign projects from summer 2021 was recently awarded two Silver Telly Awards. We had a great experience working with Holiday Rambler on a project that spanned the entire summer with locations in Arches National Park and Grand Teton National Park. These RVs look incredible in the wild! Kristi and Spencer are two inspirational people with a great story to tell. Meet Sara Wegmann!

Sara brings her long-time interest in video editing to PUNCH. Great editors know how to predict and offer solutions before co-creators ask for them. Sara’s editing style is very proactive which makes collaboration efficient and enjoyable.

Sara likes romcoms, sparkles, the color yellow, and dirty martinis. She can quote any line from Friends (apparently she drops quotes all the time, who knew?), and likes actors named Adam (Adam Sandler and Adam Driver in particular).

Sara grew up in the country and is first in line to travel to anywhere that is not in the country. She plays volleyball, runs, hikes, and trusts team member Matt Compton 100% when it comes to navigating mountain switchbacks in an SUV. She is also fluent in Spanglish.

Meet Miranda Smith!

Miranda brings an aptitude for project organization and a desire to “learn it all”. She excels at project logistics, creative decision making, and the sometimes grueling job of getting the many production pieces to line up in time for our shoot day. She edits, animates, has an excellent eye for design, and has become an indispensable part of our film crew. In her short time at PUNCH she is an often sought out, high-demand team member.

Miranda loves road stories (citing American Honey as one of her favorite movies) and travel. She claims the hidden talent of salsa and tap dancing (although we have not seen evidence of this talent to date). Miranda never says anything negative. Seriously. It’s crazy and inspirational. But, check out the myriad of ways she pronounces the word “ok”. Miranda is also in a dead heat tie with Punch producer Lisa Osmon for freshest outfits.

Meet Portley Colwell, aka Port for short.

Portley is PUNCH Films’ puppet master.

Through his illustration and animation talents, he’s able to create new worlds for our clients and their videos.

This Michigan native got his design start Stopping the Insanity in Seattle before returning to the Midwest to study graphic design at IPFW. He joined the PUNCH team in 2009 and has been cultivating his love of editing, illustrating, and animating ever since.

He attributes his unique creative perspective to a love of travel, typography, and the need to try almost everything once. Often you can find him knitting wool socks and dreaming of new, exciting ways to get cats on the internet.

His spirit animal is a sea otter.
