Jeff Leauby's original music is included in the soundtrack of a Make-A-Wish America project that helped Andy (IG: ), who has Goldenhar Syndrome, meet and perform with his favorite band twenty one pilots. Andy found a special connection with music and expressing himself non-verbally to songs, which is quite a great gift (like an orchestra conductor!! ). Very inspirational to learn about his journey to want to help others.

Just learned that has decided to end its 50+ year run. This was the global music conference that gathered record labels, music publishers and also tech companies & startups together in , France. I had the honor to experience this conference in 2014 and 2015. Photo taken on the Boulevard de la Croisette.

"Dear Philadelphia, tell me what’s going on?!"

This is a segment of a remix video to a song I helped produce with artists Sick and R.L. (Ryan). This was developed a while back and a version of the song was included in a documentary based on the high levels of crime in Philadelphia titled “God Speaks” (2008) produced/directed by Makia Harper. The music video producer (Kevin Kindle) filmed in many locations including in front of a mural that highlighted the name of every person that was murdered in Philadelphia in the year 2006 which at the time was a very high number (over 400). Sadly, Ryan (the singer highlighted in this music video) was murdered shortly after the video was filmed and was a shock to everyone involved.

Now in 2021 seeing record breaking crime stats for Philadelphia County is upsetting. A friend texted recently and said to stay out of Philadelphia if you don’t need to be here. Places that generally seem safe are now making headlines; I once had an office in Fox Chase (Northeast Philly) and now there are many issues in that area. Thinking about Makia’s film, there was a guy who lived on a block that was having difficulty with crime and he walked around his area praying every single day and the crime actually stopped on his street; more prayers can help out in this current situation! Please stay safe everyone!

A proof sheet for business cards from a local printer. When I was a teenager in college I had a "wake-up call" experience where I was around an influential person who was connected to the music world and his friend gave me a very difficult time for not having business cards when I mentioned that I created music and wanted to exchange info. Ever since then I always had cards for anything I was doing. My first card I created online with the help of a Vistaprint template. Over time I advanced to work alongside pro designers since the features of the cardstock, logo, colors, fonts and overall design are reflecting who you are and you want to get that right. As you evolve so does your brand and its good to revisit how you present yourself to others and a business card is just one method of doing so and its certainly not something to skip or not have. Even though music business is not main priority I have stationary prepared and ready for any opportunity.

A few people inquired about the music from the last post so here is a clip of the actual recording. My compositions are produced from keyboards and ; this one has some type of vocal/choir pad in the intro. The story behind this track stems from an intern (AJ) who wanted to record a song to a beat and this was created this for fun one day.

Snoop dancing to a beat I created! This was from season 20 of The Voice that aired on NBC a few months ago.

“Bought my first "singing bowl"! Its tuned to F # however "minus 30 cents" which should bring it inline with the 432hz scale. I tested the tone and its 1.5hz away, not bad. It sounds great and one day would be cool to record. For now its nice to play to help calm the mind down”

Really humbling to see Frankie Storm post the Amazon review that I wrote for her new autobiography. It's been a great honor and experience to meet so many people throughout this journey. To everyone: I appreciate memories of the times we spent together even if our paths crossed for just a few moments. Stay blessed.

Happy to learn about a piece of music that I produced with composer/percussionist Fernando Valencia has been licensed by the University of Arkansas's music department to be in their new and upcoming podcast that will feature artist interviews and will broadcast on public radio! Thanks to Fernando for putting this together. I found this photo from one of the sessions we did from several years back. The great thing about music is you never know where it will find a home, but when it does it's very satisfying.

Excited to have participated in the very first music NFT sale that represents partial ownership in a sound recording copyright. Not only can these NFT's be sold later but owning them provides a percentage of the revenue stream of the master copyright; the NFT can also enable you to receive a loan based on its cash flow.

Hi, just want to say "thank you" to everyone for following the Rockwell Music page. Music related ventures in my life is now more part-time, but Rockwell is still open to investing in music publishing in addition to a few services involving production.

I hope in the future to have the capacity to do more humanitarian and charitable types of programs to bring help and awareness to where needed and to have music involved as a major component. For now, I'll keep you updated on any kind of developments and also will share bits and pieces of my journey on how I got here.

All the best,
Jeff

It's always a thrill to visit record labels! This is a throwback from a trip to when we had a meeting in Craig Kallman's office playing music and working with one of the A&R's there. This is one of my favorite experiences in addition to memorable visits to Island Def Jam, Roc-a-fella, Ruff Ryders and others. My first visit to a record label was when I was in high school and we traveled to Flavor Unit in New Jersey (Queen Latifa's company).

Clearing out a few items from the office and came across these music plaques from several years ago. Brought back good memories working on these projects with collegeue and friend . Thanks for the memories !!

A photo of me from the past . Once you learn and skills, mixing naturally is the area that most / want to get good at. If you're good at mixing, your music will translate the way you want it to be heard. I would always play music thru various end-user products such as headphones, small speakers, car stereo, etc to get feedback because it may sound perfect in the studio but then you may not like how it sounds on a small radio. A great composition can easily be disregarded if something does not 'sound right'. My mixing skills started from learning 'in the box' using only the computer plug-ins and features. Later I had an urge to take the signals out of the computer and process them thru a summing mixer and other outboard gear using patch bays (thats the patch cables around my neck). This process takes a little longer but I found it to be worthwhile in many aspects.

Found a video clip where my music was used as background score for a show on . They were visiting where Jr. was shot and killed at the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis.

A dream come true from what seemed would take a lifetime when I wrote down a goal of finding a way to get music into 1,000 episodes of broadcast television. I wrote this goal down about ten years ago when I was involved with a mastermind goal group and to now see it come to light when I signed into my ASCAP account last night is kind of surreal. Looking forward to achieving new goals!!

Added a few items on the Rockwell Music logo. First, the registered trademark symbol which reflects the Rockwell trademark filing in the United States for music publishing services, etc. and second the TM symbol which claims common law rights on the curve design.

Throwback to the early 2000's when I worked as an audio engineer at night while attending college. I had the privilege to work with the super producer Nyce on many sessions including this one with legendary artists Jazmine Sullivan and Cassidy, both from Philadelphia. Back in those days we rarely took photos but was lucky to find a few snapshots from this session. Also, on this particular song I contributed as a writer with a special arrangement. Engineering allowed me to meet many people and was a way to learn more of the inner workings of the business but my true passions with music was geared toward beat-making, writing and song production. I'm lucky to have had this experience plus many more.

Hi everyone - last call to get the program book shipped to you for free during the quarantine. It summarizes our humanity efforts made to help musicians in Cuba as well as documenting some of the cool things about the island. Shipment goes out this week, just give me a heads up.

03/31/2020

Dear friends - it's been several years since returning from the second trip to Cuba helping out our colleagues with much needed supplies. The program was a success and all of the donors received a copy of the extensive program/photo book. I still have copies remaining and for those of you in quarantine and interested in checking out the book, send me a message!

Big thanks to of for always helping me out with contracts and creative ideas in business. Highly recommend him if anyone has any legal needs in music/entertainment whether its copyrights, trademarks, paperwork, etc. This is a photo of us and students from his music publishing class at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City; Barry developed the business program there and I was honored to be a guest speaker several times throughtout the years.

Had some time to reflect on the Rockwell Music venture and just want to give a thank you to of . I attended the very first Sync Summit at the Soho House in NYC back in 2013 and made sure to attend subsequent summits in LA, Paris, gatherings in Cannes, France, etc. Not only did Mark and his conference allow me to meet some great contacts and friends but later I participated in a panel as a moderator with industry leaders at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. I made sure to ask tough questions that I thought the audience would appreciate and a few people later told me it was the most informative panel they attended. Great experience!

Received a delayed 10-year membership certificate in the mail today from the . I've met some great contacts and new friends from going to the networking events and parties. Thanks for the appreciation!

Today I had the pleasure of hearing friend and business colleague Lloyd Remick discuss his recently published book (titled “Two Times Platinum"). Lloyd is a successful sports and entertainment attorney and has always had a dream to create a non-fiction novel about the business. Its exciting to learn how he wrote the book and where the inspiration came from.

The book is available on Amazon if anyone is interested in checking it out, it has a 5 star review!

Rockwell Music's , and . It's always a fun process to create stationary and marketing collateral for a brand.
When I worked in advertising sales, not only did I sell campaigns but a lot of local businesses also needed help with ad copy and design. I worked closely with graphic designers for many years and produced hundreds of print ads for clients. This process helped me develope an eye and intuitive process.
Still today, anytime I work on ideas with designers I get the same rush and enjoyment. Looking at these items that were developed in the past for Rockwell makes me feel proud of the progress made. I believe a brand evolves and so can its design, typography, layout, colors, etc. etc.

The first music instrument I was attracted to was the electric guitar. Even though I had piano and acoustic guitar lessons prior, it was the electric guitar that got me excited and passionate about creating music. Found this newspaper clipping from when I was in a band with friends performing during middle school. Not too long after, the drum machine, sequencer and midi keyboard became my favorite instruments and I got hooked on making beats.

Today Universal Music released it's new and improved "Royalty Window" for writers and publishers; it's now renamed to UMPG Window. It features advanced royalty analytics and real time catalog analysis. Overall at first glance this seems to be a nice improvement from the prior system. They now show you how much has been collected during the current period versus waiting for the distribution date to find out.

During my college years I was studying business and at night was working as an audio engineer at various recording studios. Got to work with many different producers, artists and songwriters during that time. One of the sessions I helped with got the attention of industry veterans Tommy Mattola and Cory Rooney and they picked up a song for their new artist Tarralyn. The original files to the song got lost and we had to travel to Cory's personal studio in Long Island to recreate and finalize the record. I remember he was so in love with the original record and mix that he kept giving his personal engineers a hard time about the new mix and kept saying to reference the original as he thought it was perfect. I ended up getting a programming credit for the single that was released in 2004. I was very blessed to have had that experience and it gave me motivation to keep chipping away at music even though I began working in advertising sales after completing college in 2005.

One of the very first "Rockwell" logos. This design was created in 2013 to represent the business model of owning and representing music and recording copyrights. The blue and purple colors present a balance with a wide appeal. Later, the company simplified its operating name and redesigned the logo maintaining similar colors while the typography dramatically changed from capital letters to a modern lower case. The newer font has a deeper meaning, later to be revealed. Rockwell is still operating with occasional services but has become mainly a passive music publishing and sound recording investment vehicle. Still looking to expand catalog; feel free to contact anytime.
