In honor of former President Jimmy Carter, January 9, 2025, has been declared a national day of mourning. The Okaloosa County School District will remain open, classes will be in session, and after school activities will follow their regular schedule on Thursday.

To memorialize President Carter, students will engage in special activities and lessons throughout the day that reflect on his life, his presidency, and his tireless humanitarian efforts.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, Shoal River Wayside (Bill Duggan Jr.) Park (4502 Live Oak Church Road, Crestview, Florida) will be temporarily closed for about two weeks while improvements are made to the intersection of "Old" Live Oak Church Road and "New" Live Oak Church Road.
🚣‍♂️ Boaters can access the Shoal River at the boat ramp at Ray Lynn Barnes Park (3461-3407, US-90, Crestview, FL 32539).
