Studio B, a new feature for the Hartford Studio overhaul and expansion, will feature a 24 channel 8 bus analog mixer and Tascam 16 track 1/2” Tape recorder. Designed to create demos, preproduction tracks and full productions, this room can work in conjunction with Studio A, the big room with 85 channel console (digital and tape recording) and custom built recording console.
Both rooms will have access to the Hartford Studio Live Room (a true acoustically tuned room) and the studio analog mastering rack. Lots of analog…awesome sounds.
Reopening is scheduled for mid- summer this year.

The Hartford Studios expansion and renovation currently underway includes the installation of white maple hardwood flooring throughout the entire facility including a new control room shown here, and the remodeled lobby which will include Studio B. The flooring is manufactured by Connor Sports Flooring, who provide basketball flooring for NCAA and NBA arenas. The live room, (other side of gray wall ) will continue to use fir tongue and groove due to its acoustical properties.
The renovation includes an 84 channel analog mixing console, custom tube recording and mastering consoles. analog reel to reel multitrack deck as well as digital recording. The completed facility represents a hybrid of multiple mediums to meet current technological demands and the newly created Mystiche Records is expected to re-open mid-summer of 2024.

The major demo work will be completed after the current fir tongue and groove flooring is removed and replaced by maple tongue and groove flooring. The maple flooring came from Connor Mills in Wisconsin, and from what we can tell was in the Beaverton Trinity Holy Catholic High School gymnasium built around 1965. The flooring was replaced around 2016 and it was removed carefully and then some of it was donated to the Forest Grove Re-Store where it was purchased and then re-planed to new like state.
Hartford Studios and Mystiche Records are both committed to supporting the Re-Stores as the proceeds from their stores are used to build homes in the Forest Grove area for those who qualify.
In addition to the expanded control room area and the live room on the other side of this wall there are 3 additional isolation spaces available for live recording that will accommodate over 30 musicians.

This is Eastwood Studio Three. Mystiche Records will have natural maple tounge and groove flooring with natural birch console furnishings, but the desk will wrap around the right corner instead of 90 degrees and arms reach for all the hardware. Looking for SSL 56+ faders and lots of channel busses. The tape machine and analog mastering rack will stay on rolling racks. Still debating on adding glass doors on the live room wall.

Hindley Street Country Club is from
Australia, located in the centre of the city of Adelaide. All recordings are done live in one room with everyone present.
This is the same principle that Hartford Studio uses to capture the feel of playing live. With the new addition in progress it’ll be even better.

Back in the saddle writing guitar parts for Lisa Warrens' upcoming release. Lisa wants to feature just guitar and vocals to showcase the songs. Before Hartford Studios was available to use I set up in a spare room and spent several years learning how to play the guitar like a piano with the melody intertwined with the rhythm. The result is a very full sounding rich accompanying bed for the vocals to blend with. Works great for singer/songwriters, and impacts the production cost without sacrificing the quality. Everything gets mastered using the analog mastering rack to achieve broadcast levels. Consultations are always free....

I want to thank my good friend Dale Blomquist for his generosity and John Deegan for his construction knowledge for getting this new space framed in at Hartford Studios. This will double the size of the control room and offer new space you normally don't see in a recording studio... a client lounge area and a small bar. Why? It follows the unfettered vibe people get when they record here. Many times close friends or family want to be a part of the recording process without interfering with the focus and energy of a session, so now they have their own space. Also, due to the addition of analog recording and mastering equipment, it's just too cluttered. We are still open during the remodeling and consultations are always free.

Demo for control room expansion starts Monday at Hartford Studios. The addition of analog tape and analog mastering processors choked the space. So the extra space will allow friends to be involved but without impeding. It takes 2 of us to run the console during a mix down.
