Some of you Portlanders may remember Patrick Doro from years ago. He started the Portland Songwriters Association amid the collapse of the Portland Music Association. The PSA became very successful, with over 150 songwriter members, some who landed major label agreements and national tours.
Personally, my goal at the time was getting on the roster of a very successful label at the time, Curb Records. So I turned the association to the leadership and off I went. While I didn't fully achieve all my goals, I've had great success.
Like some people, I chose to work under the pseudonym Patrick Doro, but I've always been Gary Watters.
I always regretted the PSA's outcome and have committed my efforts to helping musicians in my native home town Portland get on musical map with Hartford Studios and now the independent startup Mystiche Records. For me record labels aren't dead, they've just become encapsulated in a behemoth corporate digital cocoon.
So far no one has realized this is just part of music's evolution and it's time to evolve...

Amid the continuing facility expansion and renovation, Studio B and a host of new features from Hartford Studios, Mystiche Records begins development of its trademarked subsidiary, Beat Command, a completely off the wall musical experience. As an entrepreneur, this franchise is a musical kick with a great future.

Mystiche Records is the Northwest’s newest independent record label created by producer Gary Watters. “We are here in Portland looking for the spirit and soul of the northwest sound”.

The Hartford Studios expansion and renovation currently underway includes the installation of white maple hardwood flooring throughout the entire facility including a new control room shown here, and the remodeled lobby which will include Studio B. The flooring is manufactured by Connor Sports Flooring, who provide basketball flooring for NCAA and NBA arenas. The live room, (other side of gray wall ) will continue to use fir tongue and groove due to its acoustical properties.
The renovation includes an 84 channel analog mixing console, custom tube recording and mastering consoles. analog reel to reel multitrack deck as well as digital recording. The completed facility represents a hybrid of multiple mediums to meet current technological demands and the newly created Mystiche Records is expected to re-open mid-summer of 2024.

The trademark for the brand 'Christmas in the Evergreen' has been successfully registered with the Secretary of the State. This a big win and the first of many additional trademarks from Mystiche Records as we move forward creating the foundation for future goals that include community stewardship.

This is Eastwood Studio Three. Mystiche Records will have natural maple tounge and groove flooring with natural birch console furnishings, but the desk will wrap around the right corner instead of 90 degrees and arms reach for all the hardware. Looking for SSL 56+ faders and lots of channel busses. The tape machine and analog mastering rack will stay on rolling racks. Still debating on adding glass doors on the live room wall.
