History they didn’t teach you in school
On this day in 1717: the first grand lodge of Freemasons was formed in London, England, known as The Premiere Grand Lodge of England. It was later unified with the Antients Grand Lodge in 1813 to become the United Grand Lodge of England. Below is the frontispiece from the 1723 Constitutions:
dating back to what they know to 1390 . It’s changed a bit over that time as before 1730s you had only the two degrees . Many say this today is how it’s always been done but in reality masonry is a constant changing path . That is why I think it’s been in existence so long and I believe it will continue to change and adapt to the ever changing society and weather it has 10 members or 10 million member as long as their hearts are filled with love and an open mind towards learning and giving and understanding then it will always shine light in this dark world .
