The Charlton County Herald is a community newspaper serving Folkston, Homeland, St. The paper is published weekly, placed on newsstands Tuesday evening and delivered to our subscribers by mail on Wednesdays, except when postal holidays alter the schedule. The Herald's news coverage focuses primarily on Charlton County, its cities and communities, as well as broader issues affecting its residents. Circulation is approximately 3,000. The Herald is the legal organ for Charlton County.

FROM THE CHARLTON COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM...

Charlton County Schools will re-open for students and staff tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1. We understand that some families are still without power. For those that are still affected by the storm, please know that we understand and fully expect you to make taking care of your family your primary concern. For those that are able to attend, schools will be open on Tuesday. Stay safe!

NOTICE FROM THE CHARLTON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS…

Charlton County Government Offices will be closing Thursday, September 26th at
12:00 PM (noon) due to Tropical Storm Helene. All Offices will reopen on Monday, September 30th, 2024, for normal business hours.

We hope everyone stays safe in this storm and apologize for any inconvenience the office closure may cause.

With one week remaining before the class of 2024 graduates, the festivities are underway celebrating this year’s seniors. The annual Charlton County High School Senior run took place this morning. Family, friends and underclassmen cheered the seniors on as they ran the halls of the school. See this year’s graduating class in next week’s edition of the Herald.
