As I bid you farewell today, my heart is heavy with the weight of our shared memories and the admiration I have for your strength and resilience. Life may not have been fair to you, but you faced every challenge with unwavering courage and grace.

Your departure leaves a void in our lives, especially in the hearts of your loving family, our cherished friendship, and the two year wonderful twins you brought into this world. (My godchildren)

your selflessness and dedication to those you loved knew no bounds, and your legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.

On this first Sunday of Lent, let us remember the significance of this season and the opportunity it provides for spiritual growth and renewal. Let us use this time to reflect on our actions, seek forgiveness for our shortcomings, and draw closer to God. Let us be inspired to live a life of love, compassion, and service to others, following the example set by Jesus.
Let us embrace the challenge of sacrificing and committing to deeper prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Remember that through our struggles and temptations, God is always there to guide and strengthen us. Let us open our hearts to His love and grace, knowing that with faith and perseverance, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way.

On this Ash Wednesday, as we mark the beginning of the season of Lent, let us be reminded of the power of repentance, forgiveness, and transformation. Just as the ashes on our foreheads symbolize our mortality and need for God’s mercy, let them also serve as a reminder of the hope and renewal that come from turning towards God with humble hearts.

Lent is a time for introspection, for examining our lives, and for seeking a closer relationship with our Creator. It is a time to let go of distractions and focus on what truly matters – our faith, our relationships, and our commitment to living out God’s love in the world.

As we embark on this journey of Lent, may we find the strength to let go of what holds us back, to embrace the challenges of self-reflection and growth, and to open our hearts to the transforming power of God’s grace. Let us be inspired by the resilience of our faith, the beauty of our shared humanity, and the promise of new life that Easter brings.

Rev. Fr. Philip-Mario Ekweli and Seminarian Peter Andrew were abducted from the parish rectory at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Iviukhua, Agenebode, Auchi Diocese, last night at 10:30 pm.
Dear Lord,
We pray for the safe release and return of our dear priest and seminarian. Asking for protection, guidance, strength, and courage for them, as well as softening the hearts of their captors. Trusting in your divine providence for a swift resolution. Amen

It is important to remember to not judge a person before you have heard them speak, for the words that come out of a person's mouth are a reflection of what is in their heart. It is easy to jump to conclusions based on appearances or assumptions, but true understanding comes from taking the time to listen and learn. Remember to watch your own words too, as they have the power to hurt or heal. Speak with kindness and compassion, and be open to truly understanding others before forming opinions.

As we journey through life, may we trust in His leading, knowing that He will always take care of us. Even in the face of challenges, uncertainties, or trials, may we rest in the assurance that the Lord is with us, and He will meet all our needs according to His riches in glory. Let's walk in faith, knowing that with the Lord as our Shepherd, we have everything we could ever need. Trust in Him, and you will lack nothing. Amen

Thank you for guiding us through February with its ups and downs, teaching us lessons, and helping us grow. As we close this chapter, we are grateful for the experiences, moments, and growth it has brought. We thank you for being our source of strength, comfort, and hope. In times of turmoil and turbulence, let us turn to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the epitome of gentleness and purity of heart. Let us ask for her intercession to help us cultivate these virtues within ourselves.
Just as she humbly accepted God's will and bore the Savior of the world, may we also have the courage to surrender ourselves to God's plan for us. Let us strive to be gentle in our words and actions, showing compassion and empathy towards all those we encounter.
At the same time, let us seek the purity of heart that the Blessed Mother exemplified. May we strive to rid ourselves of all negativity and impurities, allowing our hearts to be filled with love, joy, and peace.

Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, may we be guided towards a life of gentleness and purity, following in her footsteps as she leads us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.
