If you need some input on that, let me know. The savings rate your bank pays you is chicken scratch compared to what a high-yield savings account will pay. Your money should be making money for you. Now it’s time to start aggressively paying down debt. Whenever and wherever you can pay a little extra. Or pay a lot extra. Whatever you can do Debt is not your friend. get life insurance. Get schooled on life insurance, it’s something I believe everyone should have in their back pocket Safe for retirement, I promise you it will be here faster than you can blink. If your employer offers a match, take advantage of every bit of that. Anything over your employer match, don’t put it in the retirement account. Start investing it. Learn about compounding, the rule of 72, leverage…learn everything you can about money. Make sure you are socking money away in an investment account where it can grow for you. If you have an employer match on retirement savings, contribute up to that match. Anything else you want to contribute above that - put it in another investment account that you have access to prior to 59 1/2 (you’ll likely earn better returns too). According to recent study 42% of us have subscriptions and memberships in things we no longer use. Maybe it was a good idea at one point in time, but you’re just not using it anymore. I know I did. And I was slow to get around to canceling everything. But finally when I did, I found $389 that I was able to add back to my budget. It was all stuff I no longer use. Memberships I didn’t need anymore. Subscriptions I never even open anymore. And once I cancelled them, it allowed me to use that money and other ways that were much more meaningful to me. So as we start off this new year, with big goals, intentions, and resolutions…. Make one of your goals to get rid of the things that you don’t need or use anymore. Don't overlook this! The MOST important bank account - the MUST HAVE Bank account - is an Emergency Fund! Why? Here are just a few good reasons: >Job Loss or reduction in hours/pay >Unexpected medical expenses >Your car breaks down >A pet emergency >Unplanned travel (funeral, family illness) >Storm damage >Home repairs I could go on with the list. Big questions ahead... How much do you need? A good rule of thumb is 3-6 months. This is especially important if you experience a job loss or reduction in pay. Still gotta pay the bills. Start saving now and make it part of your monthly budgeting. Where should you keep it? A HIGH interest rate savings plan. Paying for unexpected expenses on a credit card is costly. Those rates are a very expensive way to cover an expense - and take you ages to pay for it. Yikes! Here it is, near the mid-point of the year. How are you making out with your finances? Saving? Paying down debt? Investing? Or just barely keeping up with the groceries due to all this inflation pressure?

Curious... how are your 2024 goals going? Are you still pressing in, going after them? Or have you given up? I'm hoping you haven't given up yet. Sadly, statistics say that 23% of American's have given up by the first week of January - YIKES!!! And 43% give up before January is over. Let's be the 57% who keep getting after it! And if you cheated a little, or skipped some days, or totally missed...you can still get back on task. One thing I have learned over the years is that going after something meaningful has its setbacks, dull moments, frustrations, and all those things. But it is in those moments that our character is built. Our tenacity comes out. Our faith is strengthened. And so much more!!! Share your goals so we can cheer you on!
