10U Florence, AL All- Stars softball team played in the AAYS Rec World Series in Brandon, MS. July 13-15. They beat Florence, MS 14-3, Ville Platte, LA 6-2 in pool play. Went into bracket play as the #2 seed with wins over Pike County, MS 7-4, Semmes, AL 3-1, Ville Platte, LA 3-0 advancing to the Championship Series undefeated. Florence, AL faced Ville Platte, LA in the World Series Championship. Florence having no loses would have to get beat twice. Ville Platte, LA beat Florence 8-6 forcing the if necessary game where Florence won 5-3 to win the AAYS Rec All-Star World Series.

Congrats to the Florence All- Stars 10U softball team. They recently played in the AAYS state tournament and went undefeated and won the Gold Bracket State championship

FOLLOWING THE FALCONS: Just two weeks after his team, the LSU Tigers, won the 2023 Men's College World Series, Florence High School alumnus Grant Taylor was selected in the second round of the MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox, the 51st pick overall. Congratulations, Grant!

Congratulations to recent CHS graduate Braxton Martin! Braxton, a 2023 AHSAA State Champion in the 100m & 300m hurdles, has signed a track scholarship with the University of West Alabama! Everyone at CHS is so proud of him and his accomplishments!

Congratulations to the MSHS Varsity Dance Team, who attended the UDA camp at Auburn University this weekend! They are bringing home 1st place, Home Routine; 1st place Drill Down; a Superior trophy, based on the number of dancers receiving superior evaluations; the Super Spirit Stick; and the UDA Spirit Stick. Seniors Olivia Buck, Kathleen Cantrell, and Sophie Shewbart were also named UDA All-Americans.

Coach Jonathan R***r told his players this afternoon he will be resigning his position as head baseball coach at Phil Campbell HS. We appreciate Coach R***r for all he has done for PCHS and our baseball program. He has made Phil Campbell baseball one of the top programs in the state in any classification. He will truly be missed. His success is not only measured on the field but off the field as well. We wish he and his wife Deedra well and thank them for their service to Phil Campbell HS. We know they want to spend time watching their two boys, former Bobcat baseball players, Ridge and Sage, play college baseball. They’ve earned it!

We are pleased to welcome Jeremy Pounders as our new head basketball coach! Coach Pounders comes to us from Wilson High School, where his teams earned 4A sub-regional appearances in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2020; earned the first area title in school history in 2011; and became Lauderdale County Champions for the first time in school history in 2014. He says, "I am so thankful for the opportunity God has given me to coach these young men. I am excited to get started and be a part of the Mars Hill family." He and his family are active members of the Chisholm Hills Church of Christ. Welcome to MHBS!
