Update on the expected timing of tonight’s storms. Be sure to follow Chelsea Aaron WAFF 48 Meteorologist for updates. Strong to severe storms with the biggest impact coming from lightning, heavy rain and isolated damaging wind gusts.

A level 2 of 5 moderate risk of severe weather, mainly winds and hail, is expected later today and tonight in parts of northwest Alabama. Other areas, including those near Montgomery, are under a level 1 of 5 low-risk advisory. Maintain awareness of weather conditions in north Alabama, with a focus on the northwest, during the day and evening.

The normal final freeze of the season in North and Central Alabama comes between March 23 and April 15. Next week is going to be ONE OF THE LAST but probably not the absolute last ones of the season.

Temperatures next Tuesday could be more than 15 degrees below average for mid-March, and that means a freeze is on the table as far south as Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and maybe even Clanton by Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning.

We probably have at least one more chance before Spring takes over for good!
