Special message: This show will be the last program for me to host as I’m winding up my broadcasting career which started back in Jan. of 1979. And what a wonderful journey it’s been! It’s definitely beginning to look, and SOUND, a lot like Christmas! Alina Shook is the Director of the Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra. She and her daughter Leslie were in studio giving us an overview of MYSO. Bill Ellis of the Memphis Commercial Appeal said “He’s the best, most soulful songwriter you never heard of!” John Mohead has an incredible resume’. Including 7 studio albums and one “live” album. He’s traveled the world and has opened for Bob Dylan, the Allman Bros., David Allan Coe, Little Feat, and many others. A special Blues and Arts Hour this morning. A tribute to one of Mississippi’s great blues artists, Bill “Howl ‘n Madd” Perry. It was just two months ago, that Bill passed away, having just come back from a huge performance at a jazz festival in Angola, Africa where he and his family received a standing ovation. Bill’s career covered 60 yrs. and included so many memorable recordings and performances. B. King, Mavis Staples, Dorothy Moore, and many more, but he is also an arranger, writer, and an educator. Kimble is making an impact on young people across the state with his Mindfulness Through Music.
