About Us
We are a group of volunteer community reporters who devote our time to bring timely and accurate news to the citizens of Northern Arizona with a primary focus of the Flagstaff region. We take pride in our solid working relationships with both local and state authorities. We rely heavily on social media, as a means of delivering and receiving news. Above all, We believe that an INFORMED public is a SAFER public.
FLAGscanner began in 2008 with just a single online scanner. Its beginning purpose was just to provide scanner feeds for Flagstaff. We wanted to showcase the dangerous and selfless jobs that our police, fire and EMS officials perform on a daily basis. Over the years, FLAGscanner grew to be more than that. In 2010, Flagscanner faced a turning point. During the Shultz Fire of 2010, we began sending fire information via Twitter, due to a growing number of concerned citizens not getting timely information about the fire's containment lines. FLAGscanner followers also asked for us to set up a page with updates, and so we did. It proved to be instrumental in providing timely updates regarding the fire.
Due to the overwhelming amount of support from the community through donations, in 2011 we added three additional scanners, bringing our total online feed count to four: Fire, Police, Sheriff, and DPS. By the end of 2011, FLAGscanner.com surpassed 2-million unique website hits. Our Twitter and Facebook followers number in the THOUSANDS. Over 1 million people have connected to our online streams. In 2017, our site recorded over 40 MILLION hits, clearly making us a trusted source for Northern Arizona Breaking News.
Thank you to all of our followers and supporters.
Our site and service is dedicated to the men and women in the law enforcement, fire and medical fields in and around Northern Arizona.
