Late last night I saw there was a new review for The Assignment, and I am in love with it. This is the first time someone has commented on how much tragedy there is, which is surprising given the amount of trauma I put those characters through.

Now that's not to say there aren't happy moments cause there are...but I'm a little heavy handed when it comes making my characters hurt.

But that tragedy and heartbreak serves a much larger purpose. When I wrote The Assignment, I wanted to put emphasis on the fact that we never truly know everything that's happening behind closed doors.

Maybe there's a reason why someone is always smiling and cracking jokes. There can also be a reason for why a friend prefers going over to your house instead.

Sometimes, life doesn't care what age you are.

So if you like YA contemporary coming of age fiction, that has heartbreak, tragedy, an epic paintball scene, some male characters that give off golden retriever energy, and several twists and turns, then I think you might like The Assignment.
