When temperatures reach a wind chill or a “feels-like” temperature of 15 degrees or less, the cold becomes dangerous. We can expect to see more winter weather this weekend, but the Fayetteville C.R.E.W is springing into action to protect the unsheltered population from the dangers of extreme temperatures.

• 7hills Homeless Center will operate from 6:00am-6:00pm out of Jefferson Elementary School as a daytime warming shelter.

• The 7hills overnight shelter has 64 beds. The “overflow” night shelter is located at Genesis Church of Fayetteville and will be open from 6:00pm-6:00am.

• Salvation Army will be operating under their cold weather policy of 32 degrees. Currently operating 38 shelter beds under normal conditions and adding an additional 21 emergency shelter beds.

*For a full list of emergency shelters in your area, you can visit the Arkansas Department of Public Safety’s website.

Visit our website for a conversation between Ozark at Large’s Sophia Nourani and representatives from local organizations involved in the C.R.E.W response.
