Edison Research just released the 2023 Q4 Share of Ear study which confirms what we know from our advertisers to be true.

When it comes to in-car ad-supported audio listening, AM/FM radio still reigns supreme. According to Edison's report, 𝗔𝗠/𝗙𝗠 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟴𝟱.𝟴% 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿. Podcasts have 7.3% of listening time, followed by SiriusXM's ad-supported channels at 3.8%, and ad-supported Spotify and Pandora at 1.5% each.

📻 Marketers and advertisers, take note! Advertiser Perceptions' ongoing survey has revealed that there is a significant underestimation of AM/FM radio's share of ad-supported listening overall compared to Spotify and Pandora. The perceived share of AM/FM is at 26%, while the actual share is a whopping 68%. On the other hand, Spotify and Pandora's perceived shares are 29% and 17% respectively, but the actual shares are only 4% each. There is a disconnect between perception and reality when it comes to media planning. To make informed decisions, it's crucial to fully understand today's media behaviors. Take the 'me' out of 'media' and accurately assess the landscape.

👀 While everyone talks about 🏈 📺 ads remember that radio gets real results. According to a recent Audacy State of Audio report, radio drives 48% of consumers to purchase, which surpasses TV (44%), social media (38%), and video (26%). In addition, audio's ability to convert in conjunction with other media boosts the performance of other media by 17% or more. (Link in comments)

Thoughts go out to our neighbors in radio land, dealing with this tremendous loss.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Boyce Rogers aka “The Mix Man” has passed away. Boyce was with The Mix on day one when we went on the air. He took great pride in his work as a DJ and loved being behind the studio controls which he jokingly called “The Starship”. He loved being out in the community and visiting with people. Boyce was an integral part of The Mix team until his failing health forced him to retire. Boyce fought valiantly for many years but dialysis, heart surgery, and other medical issues eventually took its toll and he was called home early this morning. Boyce loved music, people, Nascar, but most of all he loved his family and God. We will miss him dearly and send our love and condolences to his family. Once arrangements have been made, we will share that information. Rest well Mix Man.

Welcome Cassie Haley!

106.5 KBVA is thrilled to welcome NWA native Cassie Haley! Haley joins Haystack in the mornings (because somebody must try to keep him in line). Haley is a long-time listener of 106.5 KBVA and a University of Arkansas alumnus. Haley is a co-owner of The Haley Boutique - Northwest Arkansas and a real estate agent with Collier & Associates. Cassie Haley is active in the thriving entertainment industry in the region as Co-Executive Director of Fayetteville Film Fest in addition to her work with Rockhill Studios, Phunbags Comedy Improv, and many other entertainment organizations.

We are excited to see what new energy and ideas Haley will bring to our morning show. A passionate advocate for local arts and culture, she will undoubtedly bring a fresh and entertaining perspective to our listeners. The AC unit died at our office. 🥵 With this heat, we had to make a call. HUGE shoutout to Kinty Jones Heating and Cooling for coming that same day and getting this bad boy installed and blowing cold 🥶 Can’t recommend them enough. We're excited to be preparing for the 10 Year Anniversary of what we believe to be the longest-running local radio promotion in Arkansas, and undeniably the largest local radio promotion in Northwest Arkansas, the Jingle Bell Rock scavenger hunt.
