Bebés Activos, a bilingual program at the Spanish Community of Wallingford (), has expanded to Meriden this year. The playgroup explores language and culture in a community setting.

“We also noticed that many parents want their kids to learn Spanish. It’s a lot of families who grew up speaking English and want their kids to learn Spanish,” said Alyssa Johnson of Meriden Public Library.

Bebés Activos, a bilingual program at the Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW), has expanded to Meriden this year. The playgroup explores language and culture in a community setting.

TheaterWorks Hartford opens its 39th season with an emotional performance on navigating love and loss. “Fever Dreams (of animals on the verge of extinction)” comes from the artistic mind of writer Jeffrey Lieber, co-creator of the television series “Lost”.

“We are living, breathing, a set of circumstances in front of you on that stage,” said Actress Lana Young. “What you’re going to see is our blood, sweat, and tears—we leave it all out on the stage. It’s palpable.”

Coming out on September 17, “Lola Reyes Is So Not Worried” dives into the Latinx American experience, the power of friendship, and the importance of validating young people’s concerns.

“On the surface, it’s a fun story, very fast-paced…but underneath is a very serious story about young people having big worries,” said Rodriguez.
