Mary needs her Mom to make this every Christmas. Jello salad on Thanksgiving.
Today is December 12th and it is National Ambrosia Day! While in mythology it means, “the food of the gods,” that’s not the kind of ambrosia we’re talking about. Today celebrates that funky looking fruit salad that’s usually at every holiday party or gathering. This dish first found its way into cook books in the late 19th century.
In its simplest form, ambrosia is a citrus fruit salad, made with sugar and sprinkled with coconut. As the fruity concoction has gained popularity, it’s really never made the same way twice! Recipes include ingredients such as: oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, marshmallows, coconut, sugar, and liquor!
