Oyster Bay Town Clerk Richard LaMarca announces that the Town’s Animal Shelter will waive adoption fees throughout the month of September.
“I invite and encourage residents looking for a new pet, to check in with the Town’s Animal Shelter during the month of September, as general adoption fees will be waived. Our shelter staff has a wonderful reputation for providing great care to the pets housed there, and has a long history of uniting those looking for a fur-ever companion,” said Clerk LaMarca.
Brides Across America is partnering with Princess Bridals to spread gratitude, joy, and appreciation to our military and first responder personnel in the form of free wedding gowns – a special way to thank them for their tireless work! A selection of designer wedding gowns will be offered as part of the Operation Wedding Gown initiative.
Princess Bridals will host the free wedding gown giveaway on July 10-12th. All are invited to join them for this special event in Farmingdale.
Just in time for the long July 4 Holiday Weekend, Yummier Beach Club, which operates the food concessions at Jones Beach and Robert Moses State Park on Long Island, is unveiling new menu items at its multiple locations along the boardwalk and beaches.
The Town of Smithtown Recreation Department kicked off the start of Summer with the first weekend of free outdoor live music at Long Beach and Hoyt Farm. On Friday nights, residents can enjoy live music at Long Beach in Nissequogue beginning at 7PM. On Sundays, residents can head over to Hoyt Farm in Commack for another fantastic evening of music starting at 7PM.
The Town of Smithtown Recreation Department has opened registration for Camp SMILE (Smithtown Motivating Individuals thru Leisure and Entertainment), a summer recreation program designed specifically for children with developmental disabilities.
‘Free Pool Friday’ As High Temperatures Enter The Region
With high temperatures forecasted for the region this week, Supervisor Joseph Saladino today announced that all Town of Oyster Bay community pools will open for the season a day early, on Friday, June 21st, with FREE admission for residents. The Town of Oyster Bay operates five pool facilities, including Bethpage Community Park, Marjorie Post Community Park, Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park, Syosset-Woodbury Community Park, and a saltwater pool at Tappen Beach in Glenwood Landing.

On a perfect sunny Friday, East Islip’s Timber Point Elementary School held its Summer Olympics Field Day. The May 31 event was attended by families and administrators, with retired Timber Point teaching alumni Patricia Bush and Lisa Ruland on hand to help out.
Northwell Health’s Annual Walk Raises Record $1.14M To Improve Health In Local Communities
More than 6,000 people came together across five Northwell Health Walk locations on May 19 to raise more than $1.14 million for local hospital programs and services, a second record-setting year for the annual event. Supporters including patients, families, community members and Northwell employees joined walks at Jones Beach and in Port Jefferson, Riverhead, Westchester and Staten Island to raise funds for initiatives such as women’s health, cancer care and pediatric mental health programs at Northwell hospitals in their respective communities.

Urban Air Lake Grove raised more than $10,000 at today’s first annual David Wolmetz Memorial Fundraiser honoring the late co-founder of the popular indoor adventure park on the first anniversary of his passing.
Raising Money Is Easy As Pie For Seaford Middle School Students
As a reward for a successful fundraiser to support firefighters, Seaford Middle School students got to pie their building leaders and teachers. The culminating event occurred during lunch periods on June 6, when raffle winners were drawn.
The class of 2024 soon will be donning their caps and gowns and receiving their diplomas. After commencement ceremonies, graduation parties will soon follow. For party guests, that means finding the right gifts for grads.

John Theissen Children's Foundation’s New Family Fun Center Receives $50,000 Grant From PSEG Long Island
The newly opened John Theissen Children’s Foundation Family Fun Center in Wantagh has received a $50,000 Main Street Revitalization grant from PSEG Long Island, along with rebates for its energy efficiency measures totaling $4,085. The grant supports the Fun Center Arcade Room for the nonprofit, which was founded in 1992 to help sick and underprivileged children across Long Island in any capacity possible.
Pizzerias Donate Over $180,000 To Widow Of Fallen NYPD Officer & Police Charities
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino joined with local pizzeria owners to present more a check for more than $180,000 to the widow of fallen New York Police Department (NYPD) Detective Jonathan Diller and charities including Beyond the Badge NY, Project Thank a Cop, and the Silver Shield Foundation. As part of a LI Pizza Strong fundraiser in April, more than 250 participating pizzerias across Long Island donated $5 from every pizza pie they sold on April 17th.
