Help keep our local bus service thriving. If we don’t use it, we’ll lose it. Send your letter of support today.

Greetings SVT Riders and Businesses!

It’s that time again! We are trying to get a jump on our upcoming grant process. For the buses to stay running we must continue to get our grant from the State of Washington, so we need letters of support. We need letters from our riders and letters from our business community.

We are asking for your help. We must have a successful application if SVT is to continue our current level of services. Can you help us? We would be so grateful.

In your own words, tell us what the buses mean to you. It could be about what would happen if you didn’t have SVT. Or why do you feel that transit is an important part of
your life? If you have a business, what’s the impact of transit to your employees or your clients?

Please address your letter to:

Amy Biggs
Snoqualmie Valley Transportation
PO Box 806
North Bend, WA 98045

Remember to identify yourself and tell us what city you are in and sign it! You can mail them or, if you prefer, you can give the letters to your driver and they will get them to me. If you would like to send an electronic copy of the letter to me, you may send it
to [email protected] with the subject line: Support.

It’s an honor to serve you and we hope to continue in our passion to get valley residents to their destinations; to jobs, shopping, medical appointments, Post Offices,
libraries, schools, or wherever they need to go in the Valley!

Many thanks for your support!

Kindest regards,

Amy Biggs

“It’s not a matter of if, it’s when,” according to Fall City Fire Chief Brian Culp. Our beautiful forested hillsides and treed yards are ideal landscapes for disaster during these dry days of summer. Learn how you can protect your home, neighbors, and family from wildfire disaster in this month’s Neighbors. Now available at the post office, library, and businesses around town. Or online at: fallcity.org/community-1

Wherever you go in Washington, traces of ancient plants and animals are nearby. Discover trilobites near the Idaho border, primitive horses on the Columbia Plateau, flowers in Republic, giant bird tracks near Bellingham, and curious bear-like creatures on the Olympic Peninsula. Washington's rock layers hold fossils from 12,000-year-old Ice Age mammals to 500-million-year-old marine invertebrates.

Join co-author David B. Williams as he discusses the rich fossil history featured in "Spirit Whales and Sloth Tales: Fossils in Washington State." David will share what inspired him and co-author Dr. Elizabeth Nesbitt, their fossil selection process, and the new science revealing the 500-million-year story of life in the region, highlighting several key fossils from the book.

What will Fall City look like in 10 years? The Subarea Steward Committee, formed in 2020 to advocate for County services, zoning, and policies, has shared its community vision as part of the Growth Management Act. This initiative enacted in 1990, works its way down through the Puget Sound Regional Planning Council and through county-wide planning policies resulting in the Comprehensive Plan that is updated every 10 years.

In this month’s Neighbors, learn what recommendations the Subarea Steward Committee has made and when our community can next input to the process. Pick up a copy at the post office, library and businesses around town or read it online:

In honor of Fall City Day, Fall City Neighbors asked our fifth graders to imagine that someone from another state asks them about their hometown. What would they share about Fall City? What makes Fall City a special place to live?

Violet Esquive and Zoe Hartman's essays were chosen to be published. Their essays are on page 7 (https://bit.ly/3VhvXFK).

Impressive work Violet and Zoe!

For decades, the horse arena in Fall City Community Park was a thriving event space for equestrians and other outdoor-minded people throughout the Snoqualmie Valley. Originally built by the Raging River Riders in 1983, it was turned over to King County Parks. Unfortunately, flooding events and lack of proper maintenance has made the surface dangerous for equestrians and horses. But a group of King County equestrians has stepped up to work with Parks to restore, revitalize and promote this great community asset.

In this month’s Neighbors, learn what Friends of Fall City Arena has planned.
