Progress continues on the downtown Fall City septic system.

Contractor crews working on the Fall City On-Site Septic system project start the next phase of work this month. They will move from SR 202 to the alley behind businesses and begin directional drilling. The directional drilling is part of the infrastructure that needs to happen for future septic connections between individual business and the main system.

This project delivers a new on-site septic system to dozens of businesses in downtown Fall City. The new system will allow local business to grow and prosper while protecting nearby waterways.

BTW - It’s a great time to visit Fall City! It's fall and it’s in their name so it’s kind of their thing. And when you do visit, parking remains open for all business along SR 202: https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/local-services/governance-leadership/local-government-for-unincorporated-king-county/fall-city-septic-system

This year, King County is revising the codes (rules) that govern on-site sewage systems (OSS). They are doing this to comply with recent changes to state law. They are also using this opportunity to improve the codes and incorporate the latest best science.

As all residences in Fall City are on septic, it is a good idea for homeowners to be informed about the changes and how they will affect you. There will be a representative from King County at the Fall City Community Association meeting on November 12, 7p.m., at the firehouse, to share the changes and answer questions from Fall City residents. You can also visit the following website to learn more: http://www.kingcounty.gov/oss/code

The non-profit NWNHC Family Fund is holding a free community healing event with horses this Sunday from 2-4p at the Natural Horsemanship Center in Fall City. Certified equine-assisted therapists from NW Hearts United will be on hand to share the healing power of the horse and guide community members who are grieving or just trying to make sense of the Humiston family tragedy. Participants can come and just love on a horse and cry, or join in a group session where they can learn coping skills to help process their grief and emotional trauma.

These sessions do not include horse riding. Email [email protected] or Message/Comment on this post if you, your family or your group of friends would like to come. This is a FREE event.

WHAT’S GOING ON IN BERNARD PARK?
Contractor crews are wrapping up the first phase of drainfield work for the Fall City Septic System and are backfilling the open areas behind the construction fence.

On Oct. 14, they will move to SR 202/Redmond-Fall City Rd. SE in the downtown business district and work on the shoulder of the highway. As a result, parking in front of local businesses will be affected. However, SR 202 will remain open in both directions. Heavy equipment and crews will be close to the travel lanes so help keep workers and pedestrians safe by taking extra care when using SR 202 at this time.

To get regular updates on construction, visit the Fall City Community Septic System webpage at: https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/local-services/governance-leadership/local-government-for-unincorporated-king-county/fall-city-septic-system

Thanks to the magic of AI, a vision of a Fall City Community Center comes to life in this imagined rendering. The recently completed community survey identifies broad interest in having a gathering and meeting space, youth programs, senior citizen activities, health and wellness events, and much more.

Pick up your copy of Fall City Neighbors at the post office, library, and businesses around town to see the survey results and learn what’s next. Or read the October issue online: fallcity.org/community-1
