The Fairfax Chief? In Pawhuska? The Chief has suddenly appeared on KiHeKa street in downtown Pawhuska! More movie magic is taking place each and every day. The Fairfax Chief was in business back in 1921, when the very first murders covered in the upcoming Killers of the Flower Moon happened. The one grainy picture left of the original Fairfax Chief was used to recreate this structure as closely to the original as possible.

Trucks lined Main Street, side streets, and many acres of vacant land as all the equipment needed for filming was trucked into Fairfax. The Killers of the Flower Moon movie, now called GrayHorse spent two days in Fairfax filming scenes on South Fourth street.
We saw local actors in period dress clothing; some bent over for a game; locals dressed as cooks from the 1920's, and a picnic scene with Robert DeNiro.

One of the first things that happens with a movie - location folks check out sites. Many days, there would be dozens of people looking at houses, figuring out what the views from inside and outside would be.
One icy day, a caravan of cars lined the street in front of The Fairfax Chief, leaving one space in front of the former Dentist's office vacant. Soon a black SUV pulled up and Martin Scorsese got out to check out the site.
As soon as sites were approved, work began, as seen on the airplane style house. This will likely be the stand-in for the house blown up by evil doers with Rita and Bill Smith and their maid inside.
