Join us for the 2024 Sundance Institute Indigenous Film Tour, a 83-minute theatrical program featuring eight short films from Indigenous filmmakers in the Salisbury Theatre located in the Fine Arts Complex on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 6:00pm (that's today!).

Adobe Premiere was used to edit 67% of the movies at Sundance. Luckily that’s what is being taught in “FLPA 260 Digital Video Editing” this semester!

The Sundance Film Festival starts tomorrow, with the usual slate of films and events scheduled in Park City, Utah, and it turns out that over half of them were edited on Adobe Premiere Pro for the sixth year in succession.

5 days to make a horror film!! UAF Theatre & Film Dept UAF Film Club

Alaska Filmmakers has a scary incoming announcement…we’re doing another 5-Day Film Royal, but this time make it spooky!! This year’s program will be apart of the Anchorage Museum Museum After Dark on Oct. 26th.

To register donate $25 or more to and send proof of receipt to [email protected].

Prompt video will drop on Oct. 18th at noon.

As always, you have five days to make your five minutes or less short films. Movies don’t have to be in the horror/thriller genre but they must have a spooky element.

Get those teams assembled and see y’all in the museum 👻

Barbie used some old-school Theatre design tricks for filming their transition sequences from the Plastic to the Real world.

Greta Gerwig has talked about how Barbie was inspired by 1950s soundstage musicals, so while filming some scenes they used classic movie and theater tricks.

Tumyaraq-qaa production spotlight!
Maya Salganek (Associate Professor of Film and Video Arts) is the founding director of the UAF Film Reel Alaska Mentoring Experience (FRAME). As a filmmaker and educator living on the unceded lands of the Dena people of the lower Tanana river, her cinematic work often features the people and stories of Alaska, which aim to decolonize the screen. Maya is dedicated to developing positive role models on film that reflect the diversity of our community. Through her courses and projects, she nurtures visually sovereign storytellers capable of expressing themselves within their own communities, as well as to a wider audience. Maya has worked as a producer or director on dozens of films in Alaska, from feature-length narrative films to NSF funded documentaries about climate change. https://www.mayasalganek.com
