Honest and Communication are the pillars that our production process is built on. We are big believers that recordings should be true to the artist and the only way we can get there is with honesty and comminication. While we love fine gear and instruments, people make records and the magic really happens when we’re communicating well! Shoot us a message if you have questions or would like to chat about your project!
WHO WE ARE…We recently realized that due to Glenn and Rich’s extreme dislike 😂 for cameras we’ve done a great job of showcasing all the incredibly talented people we work with…..but we haven’t been so hot on communicating who we are, what we’re about, and how we can help you achieve your goals and dreams. So we’re going to rectify that with a new series of reels highlighting WHO WE ARE and WHAT WE’RE ABOUT! Shoot us a message if you have questions or would like to discuss your next project and we’ll make it happen 😎
Rockin’ some feedback for new Backseat Vinyl 🤘
We love being in the mountains and here’s the view of Saddleback Mtn, and the studio (the red arrow marks us) from the top of Floyd Hill Open Space. Floyd Hill has some great Mountain Biking/Hiking trails and you can also hike in the meadow, or to the top of Saddleback. Both great ways to stretch your legs before session or while you’re patiently waiting for your guitar player to finally nail their solo 😂
Big thanks to Lalo Hart for letting us use a snippet of her song ‘How You Know’ for the video. Check out her new album “The World She’s After”, available now!
Big thanks to Glenn’s girlfriend Heather for bringing us this super cool little gong from Vietnam 🇻🇳. Whose project will we use it on first?
We’ve had a blast working on two new tunes with Brendan Pugh this week. If you haven’t checked out his new single “Here I Stand” yet give it a listen and then keep an eye out for these two as the year progresses.
Pat Smith going hard on the outro of Brendan Pugh’s new tune “Games”
Brendan Pugh working his magic on his new song “Hold On” 🤌
Jeff Rady having a little fun with an Ebow on his pedal steel yesterday. It wasn’t the right vibe for what we were working on but it’s a cool sound. I imagine we’ll eventually find a good place for it on something.
Tracking some extracurricular guitar sounds with Reminiscent Wounds yesterday 🙌
3 Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Time in the Studio
1. Practice your parts until you can play them perfectly 9/10 times. If you can do this you’ll only need a couple takes in the studio and we’ll have more time for other things.
2. Practice with a click. We will be using one and we promise it’s easier to learn to play with a click at home then it is in the studio.
3. Make sure your instrument is in good working order. Good recordings start at the source so it’s important that your instrument sounds and plays well.
4. Bonus Tip: DON’T FORGET TO HAVE FUN 😜
Big thanks to @iamkaylamarque for letting us use her song ‘Hurricane’ 🙏
As producers we like to have a lot of different options for sounds on hand so that we have them when we need them. As such we’ve picked up a few quirky instruments over the years. We found this Magnus organ at a Goodwill in Lakewood about 10 years ago for $25. We’ve yet to find a project that it would be appropriate for though….anybody got a song that needs something like this in it? 😂😂😂
