Resilience. I hope these stories have inspirited you to stay resilient in this disheartening time.
This is author and survivor Holly Dunn. In 1997, Holly and her boyfriend Chris Maier, took a late night stroll along a railroad after leaving a party. In the cover of darkness, a man approached and threatened the couple with an ice pick. After tying their hands and feet together with a belt, the man picked up a rock and smashed it against Chris Maier's skull, killing him instantly. The man then stabbed and r***d Holly, then bludgeoned her with a wooden board, breaking her jaw and eye socket, and left her for dead. She survived. The man was Angel Resendiz otherwise known as the "Railway Killer,” a serial killer who killed at least 15 people, across six different states in the United States. Holly was the only survivor of his murderous rampage. Holly found the best way to heal was to help other victims of sexual violence through Holly’s House, a sexual abuse and domestic violence advocacy center.
