Here is the first timelapse I've processed out from this past Tuesday evening in Peninsula State Park in Door County. It started out with lots of rain in the morning, then clear blue skies and then at sunset, this. One of those times it can go either way, give you nothing to work with or be a bit spectacular, or somewhere in between. It took just over and hour of shooting to get these 30 seconds.

This evenings Super Moon rising over Lake Michigan from Lighthouse Beach, Evanston, Illinois. From the teardrop as it cleared the edge to clouds moving over the moon. enjoy.

Now that July 4th has past, what summer trip might you be planning? There are 388 lighthouses around the Great Lakes. They are beckoning you to a great trip of discovery!

It may surprise you in these days of near-universal GPS systems, 300 of the lighthouses are still active aids to navigation. The state of Michigan has more lighthouses along its coastline than any other state in the United States. See more in our blog post!

Happy Fourth of July!

As we celebrate this 248th birthday of this great nation one thing is on many people’s mind – will it survive to the 250th anniversary?

As the voices for the environment and specifically the world’s 20% of fresh surface water in the Great Lakes it seems this fall there is only one party to support if you care about the environment, healthcare, and rights of everyone. We urge you to vote to keep our water clean and safe for drinking.

The recent Chevron decision by the Supreme Court puts the environment in more jeopardy as the laws can be weakened in the coming years. The Great Lakes have plenty of environmental challenges they face. You can find more information on our website.

Vote Blue this fall, the only party which cares about environmental issues.

Last night Evanston celebrated the Summer Solstice and Full Moon rising with a Fire and Drum Circle at Arrington Lakefront Lagoon. If you missed it we're sorry. It was a fun time for all!

With a cool front moving in after the warmest days on record there were 40 MPH winds which created 7 foot waves on Lake Michigan. We shot this for the documentary The Sweetwater Seas.

A glimmer of good news about Line 5? It's hard to say. But it is definitely a victory for the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe.

The judge did not move to immediately decommission Line 5, as the tribe had ultimately hoped, saying more parties should have input first.

Goes for everyone on any beach! Please clean up after yourself! Keep our waters clean. Happy 4th!

Don’t create marine debris! Make sure nothing you brought to the beach blows away -- litter can quickly become . This debris can linger in the water or along the shoreline and cause harm to plants and animals.

When you leave, take everything that you brought with you and dispose of your trash in appropriate containers where the wind can’t blow it back out.
