Hurricane Rafael poses no threat as of now to the US. Projections pretty much match up with the National Weather Center on this one. Should weaken to a Tropical Storm before long

Our previous projection indicated the worst threat (yellow area) would move south toward Central Oklahoma, and this has now been confirmed by the issuance of new Tornado watches.

A potentially severe tornado outbreak is forecasted to impact the Midwest within 6-8 hours, with powerful tornadoes possible. Left Pic: Tornado Potential 🌪️. Right Pic: Supercell potential from another model.

Reviewing the models suggests the yellow dashed line should shift south, indicating increased severe tornadic potential for South and Central Oklahoma. We are concerned by the projections and hope for the best; our thoughts are with those potentially affected.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, residents along the East Coast, most of Florida, and areas as far inland as Swainsboro/Sylvania, Georgia, and Bamberg, South Carolina, can anticipate potential scattered showers and thunderstorms, though severe weather is not currently forecasted.

CSRA wise, Lincolnton, Clarks Hill & McCormick, Edgefield and Aiken are now in play with a chance of storms this evening. Slight chance but not 0% anymore

Slight chance of Severe thunderstorms later today around 3-8pm for TN, NC, SC and North GA, AL & MS. Few models are showing the Chattanooga, TN area & NW GA along with parts of NC having the most marginal threat of severe weather. But any area inside the green and even right outside of it on the map could still get some storms. Wind and possibly hail are the only issues with these. Will update if any of it intensifies

Weather in the Southeast has been pretty boring (which is a good thing) so haven’t had much to post about. Halloween is looking slightly warm (75-80 degrees).

But we do have an interesting development in one of the models showing a possible Hurricane forming in the Gulf that comes up towards Florida, projected around November 3rd-4th. That’s still a way far out projection and can easily change but will be hoping that model changes in the next week, definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Nothing to do with the Southeast, but this cell heading towards Phillipsburg, KS and going to cross into Nebraska, is looking like a supercell with a possible tornado about to drop. Curious to see if the NWC will announce a tornado warning for people in front of this cell. Hope it doesn’t happen

Hurricane Oscar, our official 10th Hurricane of the season. 🌀

Current models are showing Oscar reaching Cuba then getting rejected by them and running away off into the Atlantic with his heart broken.

Will keep an eye out if any new projection changes come to light.

🚨POTENTIAL HURRICANE ALERT🚨

The current system in the Atlantic (Invest 94L, left picture) that has already formed I believe will make landfall in the Dominician Republic as a Tropical Storm/Depression, maybe worst case a Cat 1 Hurricane around Friday or Saturday.

The one I’m concerned about hasn’t even formed yet. Models are showing this hurricane forming off the coast of the Carolinas (images on the right are projected around Tuesday, 10/22 @ 10am). This is only one model but others are showing similar results.

The GOOD news is this model is showing this spinning next to the Carolinas then spinning off out into the Atlantic. But it’s a little too close and big for comfort. I’ll definitely be watching this one. Again, this isn’t the system already formed in the Atlantic. This is one that MIGHT form by the end of this weekend.

Light green = Slight chance
Darker green = Increased chance
Top threats of these storms will be wind & hail. Most of Tennessee is in the threat area today. North Alabama, North Georgia & NW SC could see some storms as well.

Hope a lot of people got to enjoy seeing the Northern Lights in our area. Was insane to see that so far South.

In case you have run across this hurricane projection on social media, very fake. Projections for the tropics look pretty calm for at least the next week.

Weather across the US looks calm as well for the weekend. Possible severe storms late Sunday in SE Kentucky, West Virginia & possibly NW Tennessee area (dark green circle area). That’s about it. Enjoy the cooler temps all across the Southeast, will get even cooler later next week (Wed - Fri). Have a great weekend!
