Eugene Country Dancers is on an indefinite hiatus due to COVID-19. The Thursday night dance session are continuous with first night free for new dancers.

English and Scottish Country dancing are forms of social dancing and we host a lesson/dance most Thursdays at the Vet's Center from 7:00-9:30 PM. Social Dancing
(English Country Dancing is the dance form portrayed in the ballroom scenes of many Jane Austin/Regency era movies and television shows. Perhaps Scottish Country Dancing will be showcased on a future episode of Outlander?)

Five Night Punch Card: $40 ($35 for H&R members)

*At no extra cost, dancer can join H&R and receive discounts for future Cards and H&R Events

These payment options assure that dancers get full value for their contributions while maintaining cost savings for pre-payment. Thursday 7:00pm - 9:30pm
6:45pm: new dancer orientation and figure practice

We encourage all dancers to attend as complete a night as possible as new dancers learn best when paired with experienced dancers. We occasionally have live music. Musicians will be paid, so it depends on how well we do financially. Announcing these nights will give us the opportunity to stay in touch with you. The Harvest Ball will be held In November. Other balls throughout the PNW happen yearly. Attend Thursday nights to learn ball dances.

Our Story

English and Scottish Dancing Thursdays January until the week before Thanksgiving 2020. Same venue, Vets Memorial Ballroom, Second Floor.

The Thursday night dance session is continuous, first night free for new dancers.

Special offer for dancers who haven't joined us for over a year: Your first night back with us will be free!

Payment options:

Drop-in fee per night: $9 ($8 for Heather and Rose members)

Five Night "Punch Card": $40 ($35 for H&R members)

Ten Night "Punch Card": $80* ($70 for H&R members) *Dancers can join H&R for no extra charge and receive discounts for future Cards and H&R Events.

If you have special needs financial circumstances, please discuss privately with Stephen Stanley. We want everyone who wants to dance to be able to dance.

We accept donations from dancers to help defray our costs. Eugene Country Dancers is a not-for-profit organization, which is just as well because it has been years since we have done more than break even. All expenses are operational. Everyone volunteers without payment. Unfortunately, we are not a tax-deductible organization, but tax-deductible donations can be made through The Heather and the Rose Country Dancers with a request that the donation benefit ECD. Ask Stephen Stanley for information.

Times remain 7:00pm - 9:30pm, with New Dancer Orientation and Figure Practice scheduled for 6:45. All beginners are encouraged to attend to practice selected dance patterns.

We will continue to plan for introductory dances for the first hour of each Thursday night, to accommodate any new dancers who attend. These won't necessarily be "simple" dances, but dances easier to learn. We encourage all dancers to attend as complete a night as possible as new dancers learn best when paired with experienced dancers.We will occasionally have live music. Announcing these nights will give us the opportunity to stay in touch with you using email. Musicians will be paid, so live music depends on how well we do financially.
