Joann Wittler loves sunshine but lives in the least sunny part of Washington State. A native of Seattle, Joann grew up in Tacoma and Puyallup, where she met her husband, Steve. They have a blended family, which has taught them the power of unconditional love, especially when raising teenagers. This patience served its purpose when they started Mother 2 Many, a nonprofit outreach for homeless teens, in January 2013. What is your favorite scripture / lifetime verse (and why)?
John 15:15 NIV I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

I love this verse because it shows that Jesus wants to have a relationship with each of us. He is our friend, that is so cool. When He gave me this verse, I was praying and ended it with my friend, He told me “You finally got it”. Yes, I got it, and my life has never been the same. Not about religion, it’s all about relationships.

For fifty-four years, Karen Black Mercer has been a warrior against abortion, starting in the late sixties to prevent abortion on demand. She has worked with crisis pregnancy centers, done post-abortion counseling, opened a maternity home and joined Operation Rescue. She has been pushed, spit on, handcuffed, beaten, injured by nunchuckus, shackled, arrested twenty-four times, written up sixty-three times for injunction violations, and received a mafia death threat. It was as a sidewalk counselor, however, that Karen learned her compassionate woman-centered approach to encouraging women to choose life over abortion which resulted in over nine thousand women choosing life and has earned her national recognition as “The Billy Graham of Sidewalk Counseling.” She has also earned the Power of One award from the Georgia Family Council. Karen holds a doctorate in clinical Christian counseling (PhD). In addition to her two children, she has a stepdaughter and a total of ten grandchildren. She lives in the Midwest with her husband, Steve.

For the last 150 years the evangelical church has been embroiled in a great debate about eschatology: about the true shape of Salvation History, and about God’s plan for the Consummation of all things at the return of Christ. In this book, retired pastor and author Dean Davis seeks to resolve that debate once and for all.

She has been pushed, spit on, handcuffed, beaten, injured by nunchuckus, shackled, arrested twenty-four times, written up sixty-three times for injunction violations, and received a mafia death threat. It was as a sidewalk counselor, however, that Karen learned her compassionate woman-centered approach to encouraging women to choose life over abortion which resulted in over nine thousand women choosing life and has earned her national recognition as “The Billy Graham of Sidewalk Counseling.” She has also earned the Power of One award from the Georgia Family Council.
