In an effort to reduce potential litter, residents whose garbage is collected Tuesday in Enterprise are asked to delay putting out the cans as long as possible. Sanitation crews will begin collecting garbage at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

It is understood that some residents may need to pull their cans to the curb tonight. However, if at all possible, you're asked to wait until tomorrow morning after the inclement weather has passed.

A significant high-impact and severe weather event will affect the region tonight and Tuesday. Impacts will include an Enhanced Risk (3 out of 5) of severe thunderstorms for the entire area.

Strong tornadoes are possible as well as damaging to destructive wind gusts and large hail. Very strong non-thunderstorm gradient winds are expected with this system. Sustained winds of 30-35 mph and wind gusts of 40-55 mph are possible across the area on Tuesday. Given wet soils, this could result in trees falling more easily.

Round 1 will occur between 2 and 6 a.m. Round 2 will be from 6 until 9 a.m. when the main event and a squall line will pass through.

Other impacts could include numerous to widespread power outages and structural damage, some possibly significant.

The biggest concern is about the squall line tomorrow morning, however, overnight tonight it will be very windy. If you’re traveling tonight or tomorrow morning, use caution and please monitor the weather. After the squall line passes tomorrow, the severe threat will be over but it will be a breezy afternoon.

Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) introduced a resolution condemning Rep. Rashida Tlaib's (MI-12) antisemitic statements and sent a letter to the House Administration Committee requesting the removal of the Palestinian flag from outside her office. Click here to view a photo of Rep. Tlaib's flag display.

“The State of Israel is under unprovoked attack from a terrorist group that is celebrating the beheading of infants, ra**ng of women, and cold-blooded murder of hundreds," said Moore. "It is disgusting to glorify the largest single-day mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust as a 'resistance' and display their flag in the halls of Congress. I call on all of my colleagues in Congress to wholeheartedly condemn these actions and stand with Israel as they work to defend themselves."

Beginning Wednesday through Friday, a low pressure system along a frontal boundary from the Gulf of Mexico will move inland with the expectation of producing several inches of rainfall, ranging from 2-4 inches with isolated higher amounts area wide. This system is NOT expected to be tropical but with the excessive moisture in place, there is a concern for possible flash flooding. Given the recent moderate to severe drought conditions along the Florida Panhandle and Southeast Alabama, the rain will likely first result in runoff before being absorbed by the soils.

Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) released the following statement after opposing the motion to vacate the chair and remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker.

“Congress has 41 days left to fund the government by getting the remaining appropriations bills passed -- let's not waste them," said Moore. "If we keep our eye on the prize, we have the chance to do something that hasn't been done in 26 years. We can fund the government through regular order with cuts to Biden's out-of-control spending that is currently imposing a 17% inflation tax on Americans, but not if we waste time on infighting about the motion to vacate."

FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a national test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The test will take place at approximately 1:20 p.m. CT. All major U.S. wireless providers participate in Wireless Emergency Alerts and will transmit the national test to their subscribers.
