Coffee in Texas isn’t just a drink—it’s medicinal.
If it ain’t strong enough to float a horseshoe, it ain’t coffee. ☕🤠

What is a Texian?
Texian was a term that held great significance and pride for the Texas colonists, who used it to refer to all the inhabitants of the Republic of Texas (1836–1846). Unlike the modern term Texan, which emerged later, Texian embodied the unique identity of those who fought for and established an independent Texas.

This term was so popular that public officials and many Texas residents proudly adopted it. Even President Mirabeau B. Lamar, the second president of the Republic, recognized its importance, frequently using it to promote Texas nationalism. Lamar, often called the “Father of Texas Education,” believed that fostering a strong independent identity was key to Texas’s future.

During the revolution and early republic years, Texian symbolized the resilience, determination, and pioneering spirit of settlers who fought for the freedom of the Lone Star State. Today, while the word has largely faded from everyday use, it remains a powerful historical marker, reminding us of Texas’s bold and independent past. Whether in historical writings, reenactments, or prideful storytelling, Texian continues to represent the legacy of those who shaped Texas into the great state it is today.

Famous Texan - Ernest Tubb

Born on this day in 1914 in Crisp, Ernest Tubb was a trailblazing country music singer and songwriter, often called the “Texas Troubadour.” He’s famous for hit songs “Walking the Floor Over You,” and "Waltz Across Texas" which helped make honky-tonk music super popular.
