Sad to see the loss of a true Christian brother and friend, Jim Inhofe. Some of my favorite interviews with him weren’t about politics, but about his faith. He reassured me one time that he and most other politicians (of both parties) began their daily sessions with prayers for the USA. I will miss our chats!!!!!

EHS Graduation Moved Due to Inclement Weather



Enid High School’s commencement ceremony for the Class of 2024 will now be held at the Chisolm Trail Expo Center at 7:30 p.m. on May 16 due to the prediction of inclement weather.

The ceremony will be livestreamed on Enid Public School’s YouTube page and on the EPS*tv page.

Long time early morning show host Doug Stephan has ended his Good Day show. KGWA has aired his show for many years from 3 to 5am, and we will miss him.

Because of this, KGWA will be making some over night changes and moves. America Tonight with Kate Delaney, which has been heard at midnight, will move from 12a -2a to the 4a-6a time slot. Midnight to 4a will be filled with a new surprise program. Listen to find out!!!!!!!!

Traffic Cabinet Replacement on Willow and Grand prompts 4-Way Stop


WHEN: Wednesday May 1st between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: Intersection of East Willow Road and North Grand Avenue
DETAILS: City of Enid officials announced that traffic crews will be replacing the traffic control cabinet at the Intersection of East Willow Road and North Grand Avenue.

This effort will prompt several brief periods for the intersection to operate as a 4-way stop, with stop signs in place for all four directions between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Motorists are encouraged to follow posted traffic control signs and to drive with extreme caution in this area during the construction.

The Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA) is pleased to announce Dr. Angela Rhoades of Enid Public Schools as the 2024 OASA District 3 Assistant Superintendent/Central Office Administrator of the Year. Dr. Rhoades will be recognized at the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA) Summer Leadership Conference on June 12-14, 2024. Dr. Pam Deering, CCOSA/OASA Executive Director said, “Dr. Rhoades is among the best of Oklahoma administrators. We are excited and proud to recognize her as an outstanding leader.” Eligible OASA members are nominated and selected by their peers in their OASA. Dr. Rhoades, who is in her second year at Enid Public Schools after serving as superintendent and leadership roles in 4A and 5A school districts, has more than three decades of experience. Serving the students, parents, colleagues, and community is an area in which she is deeply committed and passionate. Dr. Rhoades and her husband, Tommie are active members of the Enid community. She serves on a couple of non-profit boards and is a current member of Leadership Greater Enid class ###III. "I am incredibly honored to have been chosen to receive this award. This honor is more of a testament to the exceptional team at Enid Public Schools and the support I have been provided since coming here. I am extremely grateful to be a vital part of an educational organization and community that is both progressive and growing, and which genuinely values the success of our students and our school district."

Enid Outlaws Basketball is proud to announce the appointment of Billy Hiatt as the new Head Coach and Quantel Denson as Associate Head Coach of the team. This dynamic duo brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the game to their new roles, ushering in an exciting chapter for the franchise.

Billy Hiatt, a familiar face with Outlaw Nation, has been an integral part of the coaching staff since the inception of the Enid Outlaws. With a keen eye for talent and a strategic mindset, Billy’s dedication to the team’s success has been unwavering from day one. Having secured three total TBL championships, including two before the establishment of the Outlaws and one with the Enid Outlaws in 2021, as Director of Player Personnel, Billy brings a proven track record of success to his new role. Joining him is Quantel Denson, whose journey with the Enid Outlaws began as a player on the 2021 TBL Championship team. With his firsthand experience on the court and his passion for the game, Quantel brings a unique perspective to the coaching staff, understanding the needs and aspirations of the players.

Next week the Enid Public School Foundation hosts its annual celebration, The Event. The family event is scheduled for Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Enid High School Gymnasium, 611 W. Wabash. Tickets are $5 and students performing are free, available for purchase at the entrance. The cost includes admission and a dinner. EPSF is a non-profit organization, governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees that supports Enid Public Schools. Proceeds from The Event, as well as other fund-raisers, benefit the organization’s Grants-To-Teachers program, which provides as much as $25,000 in materials and programs to schools every semester. The Event sponsors include Facial Surgery Center – Dr. Curtis Bowman, Surgery Center of Enid, Jerry Blankenship, Janna & Kevin Jackson, Cowboy Bank, Northcutt Chevrolet-Buick, Star Nails, Dennis Hladik & BancCentral. The Garfield County District Attorney’s Office’s 33rd annual Crime Victims’ Vigil will be at 6:00 this evening at YWCA Enid, 525 S. Quincy. This year’s vigil is in commemoration of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. The District Attorney’s Office is hosting its annual crime victims’ vigil to raise awareness about crime victims’ issues and rights. Keynote speakers will be the Akin family, which has been touched by violence. The vigil will include a presentation of survivor stories. This year’s vigil is sponsored by District Attorney Tommy Humphries, YWCA Enid, Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, Enid Police Department, Enid Fire Department, the CARE Campus, Garfield County Juvenile Office, the Garfield County Coordinated Community Response Team and the Garfield County Elder Abuse Multidisciplinary Team. United Way of Northwest Oklahoma recently held its annual meeting at the Stride Bank Center’s Grand Ballroom. During the meeting, officials announced the first $1 million campaign goal in 90 years of existence. David and Jennifer Lawrence were last year’s campaign co-chairs heading up the effort that raised over
$942,000. Campaign co-chairs for the coming year are Mike and Kelly Wright.
In addition to announcing the next campaign’s goal, United Way presented the 2024 Dick Lambertz Memorial Award to Alex Williams, of Jiffy Trip, for his dedication to community service. Williams grew up in Enid and went to Oklahoma Bible Academy. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a master’s degree in business administration. He is chief operating officer of the family owned business headquartered in Enid that operates 30 convenience stores, employing approximately 500 people across Oklahoma and Arkansas. Williams has served on several boards, including United Way, Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce and OBA. A Gala for United Way has been scheduled for Sept. 28, 2024. The formal event, black tie optional, will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Stride Bank Center Grand Ballroom.

In celebration of Arbor Day and as a designated Tree City USA, the City of Enid will have a tree planting ceremony at the Southern Heights Entrance om East Garriott at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26. Each year the Enid Tree Board members plan an annual event and invite the public to assist with those plantings to encourage a love for trees and to provide an opportunity to be involved in a hands-on environmentally rewarding educational experience. This year, the Enid Tree Board will plant two Blue Pyramid Cypress trees at the Southern Heights entrance sign located at the corner of Leona Mitchell Boulevard and Owen K. Garriott Road. The tree board has a downloadable “Tree Care and Selection Guide” on the City website: www.Enid.org/TreeBoard. According to the guide, some of the best trees for Enid are Bald cypress, Lacebark elm, Cedar elm, Chinese pistache, hackberry, Shumard oak, Shantung maple, Oklahoma redbud, Bur oak, American holly, Loblolly pine, and Caddo sugar maple.
